Felis 747 Introduction
Felis 747 Introduction
Hello all! Welcome to the Felis 747-200 for XP11and XP12. Built from the ground up using
numerous official resources and the input of a former KLM flight engineer and numerous
other pilots, the 747-200 is an in-depth, sophisticated airplane simulation . Powered by four
PWJT9D-7J engines, with a highly- functional, in-depth virtual cockpit, three custom-coded
CIVAr INS or LTNr 92 navigation systems or xplane FMC and detailed flight engineer
panel, as well as FMOD sounds, PBR external textures and a 3D cabin, the 747-200 is made
to give you hundreds of hours of enjoyment. Whether crossing the great Atlantic Pond,
flying from one East Coast to the West, journeying “down under” by way of Hawaii or the
South Pacific islands, traversing the path from Europe to Asia by way of the Middle East,
crossing the great African continent or a Paris London flight …the Felis 747 is just right for
you.
Other resources
This airplane comes with several custom-made documents for proper operation. Including is
a guide to the 747 cockpit, a list of normal procedures for A-B line flying and a manual
dedicated to proper INS.
And finally, feel free to drop by the discord to chat with your fellow 742 pilots. Happy
flying!
Go to https://discord.gg/cC2wKzPM or https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/forum/

Installation & Activation
Download the Felis 747 and put it in your XP11 or (and) in XP12 aircraft folder.
For XP11:Load up XP11 and look for the B742_PW_Felis.acf file when selecting the 742
! For XP12:Load up XP12 and look for the B742_PW_Felis_XP12.acf file.
IMPORTANT !!! the xp11 acf file will not work correct in xp12 so take the correct file. When
loaded in, insert and activate your unique key and follow the on screen instruction
. It is always recommended to restart the sim fully when installing/updating.

- INS source - Whether the INS use the in-sim GPS updates or working without other updates such
as dme / manual updating .The xplane in-sim GPS is used as a simulated ( not modeled ) GPS
system as used in the GPS equiped B747 classics.

# GMT: 22:52:13
OPTIONS W p |
- A/T blocks user throttle - when AT is ON, you cannot control the thrust levers. It removes
accidental input and noisy axis, while AT is working.
- 2-axis - supposed to make 2 throttles control 4 engines. as (1-2) + (3-4). However it has a
lot of limitations and doesn't work with XP curves and notches in axis settings.
- Use KILL objects - enables logic to use the KILL function in XP, that unloads the objects. It
unloads things, that are not visible from current camera position to increase some frames per
second
- Cabin lights: AUTO means the logic will decide when to switch them ON and OFF depending on
the environment illumination. For example during nights its ON . ON/OFF - are manual control. All
options still requires electric power.
- Flight save period - This a time period for when a situation auto save so will be made automati-
cally
- Save ACF state - This enables saving acf state and failures between flights. Includes also some
systems status and controls. These save files are attached to the livery to simulate different aircraft.
- Random fail period: Set time between a random fail can be selected. When a time is set, there is a
random function activated and if it checks the 10% chance , one random failure is set. So it is a
minimum time between possible failures.Select able between OFF- 5 minutes.....120 min-
utes.Random fails can only be repaired on the gnd.
- Conditional fails - these failures are independent from the random failures setting and if ON, they can
be a result of some occasions, like bird strike, engine overheat, flaps over speed, water in the fuel
, mistreating of the aircraft etc. Conditional fails can only be repaired on the gnd.

You can use this page to customize the aircraft’s payload and plan the desired fuel amount.
You can enter in a custom number of passengers and cargo, or otherwise choose from a preset amount of 0,
25, 50, 75 and 100% respectively.
If any of the figures in Final results turn red, it means you reached the limit for that value.
You can also determine the ideal amount of fuel for your journey.
You can enter in the distance to your destination (in nautical miles), your desired flight level, the tail wind,
the distance to your alternate (again, in nautical miles), your desired amount of contingency fuel (in
percentages) and your desired taxi fuel (in minutes).

When you run through the checklists (press START), each item will be called and, if done
correctly, be highlighted green.
If the item does not highlight and you hear audible frustration from the virtual pilots and
flight engineer, double-check the item.
When corrected, it will be “ticked off”.
You can also choose to reset the checklist, skip an item or “override” an unchecked one.
Use the bottom right controls to scroll through checklists.
Checklist remarks
Some items feel strange as for example the item EPR computer in the Before Start Fe
checklist. The reply is GA and that setting would be needed in the checklist.Normally
you would expect the EPRL mode switch to be set on TOD as the take off is not made
with GA thrust. This is a specific airline procedure where the EPR computer is checked .
When the checklist is finished, the so called EPRL mode switch is set in TOD before take-
off.
An other item is the item PACK VALVES in the Before Takeoff checklist. The
checklist demands to close the packs following specific procedures. You could leave
the packs open and skip the item as the engines on the Felis 742 had more than
enough take off thrust . At the moment there is no thrust change coded for a packs off/
on situation.
Further the item SPOILERS in the Descend/Approach checklist can be skipped and can
be postponed to a later moment but the spoilers have to up/armed when selecting flaps.

TAKE-OFF PERF
This is the landing calculator. The INPUT section works the same as the Take-Off calculator, but
instead of take-off weight and CG, uses landing weight and CG, as well as choosing between flaps
25 and flaps 30. Click on "SIM" to have the actual landing weight and cg. Do this before reducing
speed during your descend .
In the RESULTS section, you can see:
The minimum flaps up speed.
The minimum speed for each flaps setting (make sure you have the flaps in this config
BEFORE reaching this speed.
The Vref speed. This the calculated 1.3xVstall flaps30 for the landing weight. Add the
wind correction factor (wcf ) to get your FAS, final approach speed. The wcf is 1/2 the
headwind + full gust. The min wcf is 5 kts, the max wcf is 20 kts. If the AT is on the
max wcf is 10kts . Set the FAS in the speed window.
.
Example: Wind is 360/20 G 10 . Rw 36 in use. Vref =143 kts Wind correction 10+10 =20kts
So FAS =143+20= 163kts and that speed you set in the speed window. With AT on its
153kts
Example: Wind is 270/10 . Rw 36 in use. Vref =145kts .Wind correction 0+0=1 . Min wc
is 5 kts . So FAS =145+5= 150kts
You can click on the green section to set the bugs or use the click spot in the center of the speed
indicator . In order to see the correct speed bugs, make sure you use the LANDING PERF page or else it
will display the take-off bugs.
You can also see the calculated landing distance for all autobrake settings to determine the
setting needed for your landing runway.

The Cabin PA System
The Felis 747 comes with a series of cabin PA announcements you can “trigger” recorded by
voices of 2 real Flight Attendants at random.
Duid
1-VHF-2-VHF-3.
To properly experience the PA system, put the volume on the PA radio all the way up.
You can interrupt any PA/reset the PA system by pressing FLT INT.
There are some CB that can be pulled and reset. There will probably be more because development
is still going on
