Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the branch of computer science focused on creating systems capable of
performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. These tasks include understanding
natural language, recognizing patterns, making decisions, and learning from experience.
There are three main types of AI: Narrow AI, General AI, and Superintelligent AI. Narrow AI is
designed for specific tasks-like facial recognition or internet search engines-and is the most common
type in use today. General AI, still theoretical, would perform any intellectual task a human can do.
Superintelligent AI surpasses human intelligence and is a subject of intense ethical and
philosophical debate.
AI technologies are applied in many domains. Natural Language Processing enables machines to
understand human language, while robotics uses AI to create autonomous machines. Computer
vision allows AI to interpret visual data, and expert systems simulate decision-making by human
experts.
As AI continues to evolve, it offers tremendous benefits in fields such as healthcare, finance,
transportation, and education. However, it also raises concerns about privacy, job displacement, and
the need for responsible development.
