The principal of Tinson Pen High School is seeking donations to upgrade three classrooms on

the school grounds. The classroom building needs to be painted, tiled and desks and chairs
replaced. The Principal has formed a committee with the duty of hosting a fund-raising event.
It was revealed that the funds required to upgrade the classroom will cost $600,000.00.

Some parents have decided to make a contribution towards the project. The money raised
from their contributions was $50,000.00. The committee is now trying to generate ideas to
raise the additional money.

Part 1

Imagine that you were a committee member, state THREE ideas that could be used to raise
funds NOT including the sale of juices.

1. Cake sale
2. Fun day
3. Book sale

Part 2

The committee has decided to sell various items. You were given the task of selling natural
juices. You are also given the task to raise $50,000.00. You have the following flavours:

1. Pineapple $300 each


2. Fruit punch $150 each
3. Mango pine $200 each
4. June plum $300 each

The cost of each juice is $250.00 each. How many juices will have to be sold for you to meet
your goal? Show working

50 000/250=200 juices

You realize that you have less juices than you needed to meet your goal. You were able to
raise from the sale $40,000.00. How many juices did you sell? Show working

40 000/250=160
You decided to sell some more juices to meet your goal. How many more juices will you
need to sell to meet your goal? Show working

200-160=40

You were only able to sell FIFTEEN LESS juices than what you need to meet your goal.
What is the number of juices that you sold? How much money was earned from the sale?

40-15=25 250*25=6250

In order to meet your goal you will have to sell what you have at a higher price. What would
