Subject: Science / Biology
Grade Level: College Level
Topic: Skeletal System
Time Duration: 45 minutes
Prepared by: Norsaurha M. Alad
I. OBJECTIVES
Identify the major functions of the skeletal system.
Describe the main parts of the human skeleton.
Explain the importance of bones and how to take care of them.

- PowerPoint presentation or visual aids
- Video clip (2–3 minutes)
References:
- Credible websites (e.g., kidshealth.org, khanacademy.org)
III. PROCEDURE
A. Introduction (5 minutes)
Greeting and Prayer (if applicable)
Motivation / Icebreaker:
Ask: "What do you think would happen if we had no bones?"
Show a quick 2-minute video of someone moving in a funny, “boneless” animated way.
Transition to the topic: “Today, we’ll explore what gives our body shape and support —
our Skeletal System!”
B. Lesson Proper (25 minutes)
1. 1. Discussion (15 minutes)
Definition: What is the skeletal system?
Functions of the skeletal system: Support, Protection, Movement, Mineral storage, Blood
cell production
Major Parts: Axial skeleton and Appendicular skeleton
Show diagrams as you explain.
Discuss common bones (e.g., femur, skull, ribs, spine).
2. 2. Class Interaction (5 minutes)
Ask students to locate bones in their own body (e.g., “Touch your collarbone.”)
Quick Q&A: “What bone protects your heart and lungs?”, “What’s the longest bone in
your body?”
3. 3. Video or Animation (5 minutes)
Show a short video explaining bone structure and how bones grow.
C. Activity (10 minutes)
Activity: Class discussion and visual identification of bones using the presentation.
D. Generalization / Wrap-Up (3 minutes)
Review key points: What are the 5 functions of the skeletal system?
Name 3 important bones.
How do we keep our bones healthy?
Let students share one fun fact they learned.
E. Assignment (2 minutes)
Homework:
Create a simple poster showing “How to Keep Your Bones Healthy” — include at least 3 tips.
IV. EVALUATION
Participation during discussion
Accuracy of worksheet answers
Exit question (on board or orally): “Why is calcium important for bones?”
