REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

2. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID


(a) Remove the drain plug, gasket and drain ATF.
(b) Install a new gasket and drain plug.
Torque: 17.2 N×m (175 kgf×cm, 13 ft×lbf)

3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN


SUB−ASSY

(a) Remove the 18 bolts, oil pan and gasket.


NOTICE:
Some fluid will remain in the oil pan. Remove all pan bolts,
and carefully remove the oil pan assembly. Discard the
gasket.
C57506 (b) Remove the 2 magnets from oil pan.

(c) Examine particles in pan.


(1) Remove the magnets and use them to collect any
steel chips. Look carefully at the chips and particles
in the pan and the magnet to anticipate what type
of wear you will find in the transaxle.
Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear and plate wear
Brass (non−magnetic): bearing wear

4. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and oil strainer.


NOTICE:
Be careful as some fluid will come out with the oil strainer.

(b) Remove the gasket from the oil strainer.

5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY


ATF Temperature Sensor

(a) Remove the ATF temperature sensor from the clamp.


(b) Disconnect the 5 solenoid connecters.

(c) Remove the 14 bolts.

(d) While disconnecting the manual valve connecting rod


from the manual valve lever, remove the valve body.

(e) Remove the check ball body and spring.

Valve (ST) (b) Install the 5 solenoid valves with the 5 bolts.
Torque: 11 N×m (110 kgf×cm, 8 ft×lbf)
(c) Install the solenoid lock plate and 2 bolts.
Torque: 11 N×m (110 kgf×cm, 8 ft×lbf)

(d) Install the spring and check ball body.

(g) Connect the 5 connectors.
(h) Install the ATF temperature sensor to the clamp.

7. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSY

(a) Install a new gasket to the oil strainer.

(b) Install the oil strainer with the 3 bolts.


Torque: 10 N×m (100 kgf×cm, 7 ft×lbf)

8. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN

(a) Install the 2 magnets to the oil pan.

transaxle.

Torque: 7.0 N×m (71 kgf×cm, 62 in.×lbf)

10. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID


11. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID(See page 40−1)
