make or use something. Dalam bahasa Indonesia, definisi procedure
text adalah teks yang memberikan instruksi, menginformasikan, atau membantu
pembaca tentang bagaimana cara untuk membuat atau melakukan sesuatu.
1. Social Function (Fungsi Sosial):
Procedure text memiliki fungsi sosial untuk memberikan instruksi atau petunjuk
tentang bagaimana melakukan sesuatu secara urut dan sistematis. Tujuan utama
teks ini adalah untuk menjelaskan cara membuat atau melakukan sesuatu agar
orang lain dapat mengikuti langkah-langkah yang dijelaskan.
2. Structure (Struktur Teks):
Struktur procedure text biasanya terdiri dari beberapa bagian utama:
• Goal (Tujuan): Bagian ini menjelaskan tujuan dari teks, yaitu apa yang akan
dibuat atau dicapai, misalnya “How to Make a Cup of CoHee.”
• Materials (Bahan-bahan) (Opsional): Bagian ini menjelaskan apa saja alat dan
bahan yang diperlukan. Ini bisa bersifat opsional, tergantung pada jenis
procedure text. Dalam beberapa kasus, materials tidak selalu ada, terutama jika
petunjuknya lebih bersifat prosedural.
• Steps (Langkah-langkah): Bagian inti dari teks ini, yang berisi langkah-langkah
yang harus diikuti dalam urutan yang tepat untuk mencapai tujuan. Langkah-
langkah ini harus dijelaskan secara detail agar mudah dipahami.
3. Content (Isi):
Isi procedure text mencakup urutan tindakan yang jelas dan logis. Instruksi
harus diberikan secara bertahap, sering kali menggunakan kalimat perintah
(imperative sentences) dan kata penghubung urutan seperti “first,” “then,” “next,”
“finally.”
4. Language Features (Ciri-ciri Bahasa):
• Imperative Sentences: Menggunakan kalimat perintah, misalnya "Cut the
vegetables," "Boil the water."
• Action Verbs: Menggunakan kata kerja tindakan seperti "mix," "stir," "add."
• Connectives of Sequence: Menggunakan kata penghubung urutan seperti
"first," "next," "then," "after that."
• Adverbs: Menggunakan kata keterangan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana cara
melakukan sesuatu, misalnya "slowly," "carefully."
• Simple Present Tense: Karena menjelaskan langkah-langkah umum, teks ini
biasanya menggunakan bentuk present tense.
