UNIT 9 Assignment 3

Induction

I will be reporting on both events, the market stool and the presentation,
for this project. Throughout this report, I will describe what I did as a team
member and team leader, as well as the efficacy of our efforts to assure
success. Throughout this project, I will explain how well I worked through
the two roles, as well as how conflict was managed to guarantee the
activities were successful. Finally, I will demonstrate how I used my
initiative, self-management, and creativity throughout the exercises.

What activities did I do as a team member and a team leader?

Activity 1- Participation made as a team member in the market stool:

During the market cycle, I took on many positions and tasks that led to
our company's growth and idea generation. This encompassed the items
we offered, the market stool design, advertising, and so on. I participated
in a number of talks and meetings to offer thoughts and ideals I had about
our market stool, which helped to achieve demand.

Our market stool was born from the job of a team member. This entailed
presenting my ideas for the things we would offer at our market booth, as
well as the themes that may stand out alongside them. I conducted
secondary market research to obtain ideas by learning about popular
market stool items and what buyers want to see from this. I brought these
concepts to Deborah, my team leader so that we could further
communicate through group discussions and make a final choice on our
theme and the kind of things we would offer.

I had to individually reach out to my team members via phone calls and
texts due to the range of suggestions we had. During these phone
meetings, I submitted my personal thoughts to the team leaders in order
to get a consensus and begin the process of bringing our market stool to
reality. I successfully communicated with my team members and leaders
about any adjustments I wanted to make in order to produce the greatest
product versus rivals. For example, I proposed that we differentiate
ourselves from other market stools with which we were competing by
determining what additional things were lacking from other stools that
may potentially generate a lot of sales. I saw that not many of the stools
sold cakes, so I proposed selling a cake and cutting it into slices for
students, which I feel would draw more of our customers because this is a
product that is not generally sold at our location. My participation as a
team leader shown that I am confident in effectively advancing my ideas. I
participated in group conversations, making valuable and critical
proposals about our company that I submitted to my bosses with
reasonable remarks.

I actively participated as a team member throughout the process of our

market launch, contributing to the triumphs and problems encountered
along the way. I was devoted to our market position becoming the market
leader and standing out from our competition. A major component that
contributed to my participation in the market stool was a contingency plan
that I developed to deal with unforeseen challenges that may have arisen
at any stage of our firm. The key reason for a contingency plan was the
usage of our table as a market stool. I talked with my instructor because I
was concerned about how many competing market stools there would be
on the day of the selling procedure, as I brought up the possibility of a
danger or a lack of equipment offered. As our rivals were also dependant
on tables for their stools, I was able to offer a contingency plan for my
team in the event that we were unable to obtain adequate equipment for
our market stool. My proposal called for all team members to use a spare
room in the school and locations inside it to borrow tables from other
classrooms. This was a significant contribution as a team member
because by taking the time to prepare this strategy, I was able to
minimise any interruptions and disputes that may emerge if this topic was
brought to the table. I also spoke with my teacher how many rivals we will
face in order to identify all of the challenges that may develop, since they
are effectively interrupting our ability to build a successful market stool. I
determined who I should consult regarding the organisation of our market
schools in order to avoid any potential conflict.

Activity 2- Participation made as a team leader in the presentation:

As a team leader in the PowerPoint activity, I was responsible for a

number of activities and conversations, such as delegating, generating
example templates, and offering suggestions and assistance. As a team
leader, it was my obligation to communicate with all of my team members
via phone conversations, emails, WhatsApp messaging, and so on.

As a team leader, I was involved in the creation of the sample templates,

supervising how my team communicated and performed through their
work in order to stay on schedule and ensure that our presentation was of
the highest quality. By producing sample templates for my co-leader, he
gained an understanding of how to develop and efficiently put together
the PowerPoint. My PowerPoint example provided a notion of what it
should look like, the arrangement of where the material should go, and
how this should appear professional and acceptable to our audience. I
took time out of the process to build an example template for my team
member, Renee, so she could see how to make a professional PowerPoint
presentation. This enabled my co-leader to create the PowerPoint using
my template and suggestions that I gave. I also contributed to the
creation of a written and informational speech to demonstrate my
presenting abilities to the audience. Through my organisational talents, I
was also able to deliver speeches to every member of the team. This
benefitted my team members since they were able to catch up and
participate equally in the presentation. Through this speech, I gave a
framework for them to speak about, as well as words to which they could
add their own particular presentation talents.
I was able to organise meetings with my co-leader, Renee, throughout my
leadership position in this presentation. I scheduled time at school for sit-
down discussions to explore all facets of how our presentation would be
effective. This was also spoken about on WhatsApp. For example, we
developed the concept of using flash cards given with our notes to
demonstrate our capacity to commit to our presentation and how
enthusiastic we are about what we are speaking about. Our goal was to
present ourselves professionally to our audience, and we avoided any
potential complications. My role as a team leader was to present this
concept to my co-leader and then finalise our agreement through group
talks.

Reflect on the effectiveness in team activities and use feedback to plan improvements in
performance.
Activity 1- Team member- market stool

I feel that throughout the market stool's activity, I worked exceptionally

effectively with my team members and leaders, which contributed to the
profit we achieved and the great number of sales we made. I feel that I
effectively communicated with the team and others, which resulted in
selling as many things as possible in order to maximise profit and
differentiate myself from rivals. This enabled us to succeed as a team
since we all actively contributed and conveyed all of our thoughts,
resulting in a strong and successful market strategy. We worked together
as a team from the beginning to the end of building our market stool.
Every team member contributed to the campaign's success by working
effectively together and participating. As a member of the group's staff, I
helped to sell items verbally by promoting them and conversing with
clients about them. The market stool's success was obvious in the sales
we made and the earnings we made back, which were evenly distributed
among the persons who participated. We accomplished sales through
delegation and communication by working as a team to manage the
market stool.
As a market stool team member, there were also aspects of the business's
operation that I could criticise. I feel that as a team, there were individuals
who were poor communicators, resulting in conflict and turmoil in addition
to a competitive climate. For example, miscommunication between the
merchant and the consumer caused friction within the team. For example,
while running the market stool, the team leader made a personal decision
to change the price of a product for consumers but did not communicate
this to the rest of the team members, resulting in miscommunication
when selling products because we were selling the product at different
prices. This resulted in dissatisfied consumers owing to a lack of duty as a
seller, which contributed to our market stool's negative image. As a result
of this element, our business did not function well since there was a lack
of communication, which produced disagreement among the team and
the leaders. As a team member, I was astounded since these changes
were not addressed and resulted in poor customer experience. Conflict
was brought onto the crew as a result of a lack of collaboration, which
interrupted all engagement and efforts towards the market booth.

After analysing all of the circumstances that led to the activity, I will
explore other judgements regarding the stool market action in the future.
A factor that I evaluated that did not go well for the team prompted me to
install a number of additional items. When comparing our market stool to
our competitive environment, there were many similar products being
sold, which influenced me to include different options to sell at the market
stool and had less stock, which decreased the chances of our leader
decreasing the prices, resulting in conflict. As previously said, we
encountered a conflict issue due to a lack of communication skills across
the entire crew. Customers complained that our items were not pleasing
them, which contributed to a drop in demand. They contrasted our stool to
others, such as a free trainer raffle. I feel that the next time we should be
more flexible with our products and consider what our target audience
would seek for in items to fulfil demand. This would have eventually
lessened the communication problem we had since our staff would have
been less overburdened. With a broader range of items, we may have
averted the huge drop in demand that was occurring from a lack of
communication.

Activity 2- Team leader- Presentation

One of my primary strengths as a team leader was my ability to project

confidence and organisation to the audience and the team. This
demonstrated excellent leadership abilities as well as the ability to
effectively communicate across the team. I arranged who was to present
and when by using my communication skills, which made the team appear
organised and well-rehearsed for the presentation. Delegating PowerPoint
speaking segments helped me look as a competent team leader since it
demonstrated my organisational abilities. As a team leader, I had to make
sure that my team was organised and that they understood what to say at
the proper moment so that the presentation came off professional. My
leadership abilities were excellent, as I was able to successfully manage
my team and provide a professional presentation that was both organised
and interesting.

On the other side, based on my team's presentation, I received bad

criticism on my leadership abilities. The audience commented that my
team did not appear professional owing to the usage of flash cards to take
notes from. This came off as unprofessional since it looked that the
presentation had not been adequately prepared and there was a lack of
confidence throughout--for example, stumbling on words, halting, and so
on. We may not have practised the presentation as thoroughly as we
might have, which made it appear unprofessional.

As a team leader, there are several things I would modify and do

differently in the future. The feedback from the flash cards would motivate
me to improve my organisation and management abilities so that the
team could better rehearse the presentation and feel more confident
when the time came. This would have allowed us to become acquainted
with the presentation and how to present oneself in the most confident
and professional manner to the audience. This indicates that I should
schedule additional rehearsal time to ensure that the team is prepared
and confident throughout. This would have given us a more confident
appearance in front of the audience.

How was conflict faced and managed?

Activity 1- team member- market stool

In terms of decision making, the market stool encountered disagreement

at times. Some team members fostered friction between the stool's
foundation and the things we should offer. Communicating using online
group chats provided opportunity for the group to discuss ideas and share
information. When the group discussed the topic of the market stool, there
was disagreement. While some team members like our bakery stool
design, others preferred the 'waffle stand' design. This includes decorated
baked waffles made with an electric waffle maker. While some team
members felt this was innovative, others worried it would be difficult to
manage. This produced friction over the course of several days, and as a
team member, I adopted the position of slowing down the discourse
instead of a consistent disagreement to avoid this conflict. I attempted to
take a rational approach to every proposal I proposed in terms of the topic
and items for the market segment, and I presented it to them in that
manner.

To resolve this dispute, we collaborated as a team to allow each team

member to communicate equally and to appreciate each voice and
viewpoint based on their ideas and innovation for the market sector. This
was predicated on what we should sell in order to fulfil client demand and
differentiate ourselves from competition. The team leaders were in charge
of making final judgements on which items to offer. This decreased
conflict by limiting the amount of decisions that could be taken, perhaps
increasing arguments. Despite the fact that every point of view was heard
and shared, the ultimate decision was decided, and a list was quickly
produced to acquire the items and bring the stool to life. The team
effectively came together to establish an agreement that demonstrates
our ideals as team members and the respect we have for one another. We
spoke constantly with one another, presenting reasonable and rational
comments about what would be the greatest option for each team
member via the market stool.

Activity 2- team leader- presentation

On the day of our presentation, there was also difficulty for myself and my
team. Due to personal circumstances, a team member was missing from
most of the construction of the presentation and group discussions during
the period when our presentation was due and the team was ready to
deliver. When the presentation day approached, the members were there
but had not practised and lacked the organisation that the rest of the
team possessed. As a result, the person lacked confidence throughout the
presentation, enhancing unprofessional impressions and bringing down
the rest of the team. As a result of the member's lack of commitment to
the team, and my obligation as the leader to essentially perform the
member's function throughout the activity, there was tension. My goal in
settling this disagreement began with being understanding of the
members and devising a plan for if they were unable to arrive on the day.
Although this was not required, I had to utilise my management abilities to
practise how the various members would react to the last-minute
modifications.

To effectively overcome this dilemma, as a leader, I took the time to

connect with the group's co-leader in order to provide absent members
with information that they may have missed so that there would be no
confusion on the day. By decreasing the uncertainty between me and the
team members, we were able to handle the tension that the PowerPoint
presentation caused, and all delegations were made correctly. I took the
effort to make sure that all team members were informed of the changes
and how they needed to adjust to avoid additional confusion. Every
lesson, for example, the missing member got caught up via WhatsApp
messaging and phone conversations. Ultimately, despite their
circumstances, this helped them feel more caught up and more conscious
of how to remedy the problem in the future.

How did I show initiative?

Activity 1- team member- market stool
I utilised my initiative in a variety of ways during these events. As a team
member in the market stool activity, I had to exercise my initiative in
circumstances when I considered it would benefit the team and assist our
market stool succeed. The contingency plan I created demonstrates how I
utilised my initiative, as I was able to lessen the possibility of difficulties
occurring during the day and assist my superiors in avoiding any potential
dispute. My primary issue was the scarcity of tables for us. I took the
initiative outside of class and discussed the situation with my instructor by
talking with them throughout class about how we might obtain a table
ahead of competition first. This strategy would successfully allow my team
to overcome the difficulty that may have arisen, with a contingency plan
in place to address this possible issue. The contingency plan enabled us to
act without controversy and in a peaceful setting, which would not have
demotivated the team members. This would still have made us prosperous
and capable of running the market stool over competitors challenging us.
My job as a team member to use initiatives shined and produced a more
confident environment for the team. As a consequence, our market stool
was a success, and we were quickly given a table.

Activity 2- team leader- presentation

As a team leader, I feel I shown initiative in the presentation activity by

being able to assist my team members with the sample templates I
created to utilise for the PowerPoint. I took the initiative to write a speech
that would serve as a model for the other team members' speeches and
what they should base theirs on. It also enhanced my timing abilities since
I was able to focus on assisting team members and ensuring their
presentation deadlines were reached. Furthermore, I exercised my
initiative by supporting the co-team leader with the PowerPoint by
developing templates for him so that he knew what to include and how to
make it. The crew was effectively organised, which reduced turmoil and
allowed the presentation to be successful. The speeches were assigned to
each team member, and they were aware of their duties and what to
transmit to the audience, as evidenced by the positive comments
following the presentation. I effectively assumed the role of team leader
by demonstrating my initiative in instances when I had to problem solve
and manage a conflicting team to find answers.

How did I show self- management?

Activity 1- team member- market stool

My time management is one example of how I demonstrated self-

management as a team leader in the market stool, which I can defend by
judgements I made. I feel my time management abilities and devotion to
meeting deadlines for our market stool's success, as well as my loyalty to
the team, demonstrated the benefits of self-management. For example,
during the market stool, I made certain that I handled my time well in
order to do things. I accomplished this by doing internet market research
to determine the best things to offer at our market stool based on popular
items and the most well-known market stool at Christmas market stools,
summer stools, and so on. In this regard, I managed my time effectively
by being mindful of what was most necessary for the team and chores
that I should have done before taking on my own. When I needed duties
done, I made sure they were done so that I could finish this market
research and give some helpful recommendations to my team leaders
about the topics and goods in our market niche.

Activity 2- team leader- presentation

I also demonstrated self-management during the presentation as the team

leader, by properly regulating my behaviour in response to any conflict
that was brought onto the team, as well as the presentation process. As
previously stated, a team member missed meetings, talks, and school
sessions, leaving them bewildered and unprepared for the day of the
presentation and what everyone else had gone through. This caused me a
lot of stress as a team leader, which culminated in conflict because the
team was unrehearsed and interrupted by the absent member.
Throughout the dispute, I demonstrated my self-management abilities by
ensuring that every member felt calm and confident, allowing the conflict
to not dominate our decision making and presentation. By controlling my
stress, looking at events from many viewpoints, and so on, I was able to
manage my team as a leader and repeat everything that my team needed
to do to be successful. Finally, the presentation was effective since all
team members were well-rehearsed and professional in front of the
audience. As a team leader, I was able to clear up any misconceptions or
confusion among the team members by ensuring that the stress I was
experiencing did not interfere with the presentation's flow and obscured
my thoughts. This enabled us to deliver a great presentation by hitting all
of the necessary points and confidently demonstrating our team's and my
own talents as a team leader.

How did I show creativity?

Activity 1- team member- market stool

I feel that as a team member throughout the market stool, I demonstrated

innovative talents among my team members and conveyed this to my
team leaders. about example, I offered some suggestions about how our
team should advertise our market presence and differentiate ourselves
from rivals. My suggestion for how to design our posters was to include
eye-catching characteristics like bright and strong colours to attract
potential purchasers from around the campus. My suggestions also
included using product images to tempt purchasers and efficiently attract
clients, as well as raising knowledge of our market niche. I demonstrated
creativity by presenting these suggestions to my team leader on a poster.
This enabled me to effectively contribute to the team and aid in the
marketing procedure of the activity, essentially attracting clients and
increasing awareness of our market stool rather than others. This enabled
me to successfully contribute to the team by efficiently creating
advertising for our market stool, which included photographs, information,
colourful and bright graphics, and original ideas from myself. Using these
creative approaches allowed myself and the team to raise knowledge of
our market niche, which resulted in increased demand and profit.
Furthermore, buyers were quite familiar with our brand because the
findings revealed that more consumers were aware of the marketing stool
event as a consequence of our advertising and promotions.

Activity 2- team leader- presentation

I also shown ingenuity as a team leader during the presentation and its
creation. This was demonstrated by the support I provided to my co-
leader when developing the PowerPoint presentation. I demonstrated a
number of concepts and improvements that were implemented using
PowerPoint and provided my co-leader with a better grasp of how to reach
a professional end. By incorporating numerous photographs of Harris
Academy and the themes we were addressing into the PowerPoint slides,
our team received great feedback on the quality of our presentation and
how this heightened the audience's attention. I demonstrated creative
talents in connection to the concepts and designs that I put together to
make a professional, attractive, and presentable PowerPoint by designing
a template for my co-leader to utilise. My suggestions allowed my co-
leader to use them and include them into the PowerPoint, which meant
that by getting a second perspective before the presentation, we assured
that it was professional enough to use. My co-leader noticed my creative
side of ideas and thought it would result in more enticement and a great
campaign. My co-leader's regular PowerPoint technique is to hit the
important points and deliver educated information. With my creativity in
place, I was able to communicate more to the audience by tempting them
and provide a more unique presentation while being professional. Overall,
we received positive reviews on the organisation of the PowerPoint
presentation, as well as how professional and original it was.
