🌟 Introduction
Narrator 1:
Good morning, everyone! Today, we celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti with a special story
about love, sharing, and friendship. But first, who was Guru Nanak Dev Ji?
Narrator 2:
Guru Nanak Dev Ji was a great spiritual teacher born in 1469. He founded Sikhism and
taught that there is one God and everyone is equal—whether rich or poor, big or small.
He told us to live honestly, share what we have, and love everyone.
Narrator 1:
He traveled far and wide, teaching kindness, helping others, and peace. One important
lesson was about sharing food so no one feels left out.
Narrator 2:
Now, let's think about our feathered friends—the birds. Birds live happily together. They
share food, help each other, and never fight over who is better or prettier. They always
eat and fly side by side.
Narrator 1:
Just like birds, Guru Nanak Dev Ji wanted people to live in unity and care for each other.
Today’s play will show how we can learn from both Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the birds about
sharing and kindness.
Scene 1: The Hungry Village
(Farmers and Merchants gather. Birds sit/chirp softly.)
Prateek (Villager 1):
(Sadly, whispering to Lasya) Times are hard. Many of us work very hard but still don't
have enough food.
Lasya (Villager 2):
Yes, and some have so much. I wonder why they don’t help those in need.
Aahana (Rich Merchant):
(Confidently) I have worked hard to earn my wealth. I prefer to eat with my merchant
friends. Why should I share with those who have less?
Snithik (Merchant):
(Agreeing with Aahana) Yes, it’s been like this for years. It’s just how things are here.
Reyansh (Farmer):
(Sadly) It makes me feel alone and sad. If only we could all eat together...
(Birds peck gently at the floor, softly chirping.)
Anaika (Bird 1, kindly):
Look at us! When we find food, we share it. No bird gets left behind.
Vardhini (Bird 2):
We don’t care if your feathers are bright or plain. What matters is we eat together.
Arav Murli (Bird 3):
And when we fly, we fly as a group—side by side!
Ronit Williams (Bird 4):
Isn’t it strange that birds know how to share better than people?
Narrator 2:
Even these little birds live in peace and harmony. Why can’t people do the same?
Scene 2: Guru Nanak’s Lesson
(Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Bhai Mardana enter. Guru Nanak points toward the birds.)
Guru Nanak Dev Ji (Arjun Bhagi):
Look at these birds, friends. See how they share their food without asking who is rich or
poor. If birds can do this, why can’t we humans?
Prateek (Villager 1):
But Guru Nanak Ji, we always eat in groups. Rich with rich, poor with poor. It’s hard to
change old ways.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji:
We must try. Let love and kindness guide us, not old habits. Today, let’s prepare food
that every person can share. No rich, no poor—only one family.
Vihaas (Bhai Mardana):
(Smiling, spreading a mat and softly singing) Let us come together and share the food
with open hearts.
Lasya (Farmer):
I want to try. It feels strange, but I believe it’s right.
Aahana (Merchant):
(Slightly hesitant) If Guru Nanak Ji says so, I will join. Maybe it will bring us peace.
Anaika (Bird 1):
(Flapping wings) We will help too! Sharing food is the way for everyone.
Vardhini (Bird 2):
Yes! Side by side, together, we can make a change.
Scene 3: Langar—The Meal
(Villagers, Guru Nanak, Bhai Mardana, and birds mime preparing, serving, and sitting to
eat.)
Snithik (Merchant):
(Sitting slowly) This feels new to me... but I feel calm and happy eating with everyone.
Reyansh (Farmer, smiling):
For the first time, I don’t feel left out. My heart feels warm.
Prateek (Villager 1):
The food tastes better when shared with all.
Ronit Williams (Bird 4):
Sharing makes everyone happy!
Guru Nanak Dev Ji:
When we eat together as equals, God smiles. Kindness and service matter more than
titles or wealth.
Vihaas (Bhai Mardana):
Let us sing and serve, for serving others is a true blessing.
Scene 4: Message & Closing
Narrator 1:
From that day, Langar—the community kitchen—started in every Sikh temple. Everyone,
rich or poor, sits together as equals to share a meal.
Narrator 2:
Just like the birds who live peacefully and share everything, we too can live in love and
unity.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji:
Let every home welcome all guests. Let every meal be shared with love.
All (villagers, birds, Guru Nanak Dev Ji together):
Let us share like our feathered friends. Happy Guru Nanak Jayanti!
Narrator 1:
May we always remember the wisdom of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the gentle lessons from
our friends in the sky—serve, share, and love every day!
End of play. All bow or gesture Namaste.
This version includes more connected and natural dialogues among characters to make
