✨ Band 7.5 Sample Answer (using the template)
The line graph illustrates the changes in the number of international students
enrolling in Science, Arts, and Business courses at a university over a period of 10
years, beginning in 2010.
Overall, enrolments in Science and Business courses rose significantly throughout
the decade, while the number of students in Arts declined steadily. Notably, Science
witnessed the most substantial growth among the three disciplines.
At the beginning of the period, Science had the highest number of overseas
enrolments, with 12,000 students, followed closely by Arts at 10,000. The Business
program attracted the fewest students, standing at just 6,000. The number of Arts
students was nearly double that of Business at that point.
Over the next five years, enrolments in Science increased steadily, reaching 16,000
by 2015, before surging to 24,000 in 2020. Business courses also saw a marked rise,
climbing sharply to 20,000 by the end of the period, thus overtaking Arts in 2016. In
contrast, Arts enrolments declined consistently over the decade, falling to just 5,000
by 2020 — less than half of their initial figure.
Interestingly, in 2015, both Science and Business recorded equal enrolment figures
of 16,000 students, marking a moment of convergence in their trends.

✨ Band 7.5+ Sample Answer (2 Body Paragraphs)
The bar chart illustrates the volume of electricity generated from coal, gas, nuclear
power, and renewable sources in five countries in 2020. The units are measured in
billion kilowatt-hours.
Overall, coal was the dominant energy source in China and the USA, whereas France
and Canada depended more on nuclear and renewable sources, respectively.
Interestingly, China had the highest coal output but produced very little renewable
energy, showing a stark contrast in source reliance.
In terms of coal and gas production, China and the USA generated the most
electricity. China’s coal-based output reached nearly 4,000 billion kWh, surpassing
the USA’s 3,000 billion. Gas production in the USA was the highest among all five
countries, at approximately 2,500 billion kWh — more than double China’s figure.
Germany and France both produced moderate amounts of coal and gas, while
Canada relied least on fossil fuels, with minimal coal usage and relatively low gas
output.
In contrast, the pattern for nuclear and renewable energy was markedly different.
France led in nuclear electricity production, generating almost 3,000 billion kWh, far
more than the other nations. Canada, on the other hand, dominated in renewables,
with about 3,200 billion kWh, which was over triple the figure for any European
country. Notably, China, despite its dominance in coal, produced the least renewable
energy, at just under 300 billion kWh.

Band 7.5 Natural Process Template
Introduction (1 sentence):
"The diagram illustrates the natural [number]-stage cycle of
[phenomenon], showing how [key element] transforms from [initial
state] to [final state] in [ecosystem/context]."
Overview (2 sentences):
"This cyclical process originates with [first stage] and completes
with [final stage], which subsequently enables the cycle to repeat.
The most critical phases are [key stage 1] and [key stage 2], where
[significant change] occurs."
Body 1 (Early Stages):
"Initially, [element A] is [naturally processed, e.g., 'absorbed by
plants'] from [source] through [method]. Following this,
[biological/chemical process] takes place over [timeframe],
converting it into [element B]. During this phase, [environmental
factor] plays a vital role by [specific function]."

movement, showing how carbon atoms transform from atmospheric
CO₂ to organic matter and back in terrestrial ecosystems."*
Overview:
"This cyclical process originates with photosynthesis and completes
with respiration/combustion, which subsequently enables the cycle
to repeat. The most critical phases are carbon fixation and
decomposition, where carbon changes form."
Body 1:
*"Initially, CO₂ is absorbed by plants through leaf stomata during
photosynthesis. Following this, chloroplasts convert it into glucose
molecules over 6-12 hours of sunlight. During this phase, sunlight
intensity plays a vital role by determining the rate of carbohydrate
production."*
Body 2:
"Subsequently, glucose undergoes cellular respiration when
consumed by animals or microorganisms. This results in CO₂
byproduct, which is then released into the atmosphere through
exhalation. Ultimately, decomposed organic matter returns carbon
to the soil as humus, thereby completing the cycle."
Butterfly Life Cycle (154 words)
Introduction:
"The diagram illustrates the four-stage metamorphosis of a
butterfly, demonstrating its transformation from an egg to a mature
adult capable of reproduction."
Overview:
"This cyclical process begins with egg deposition and culminates in
adult emergence, enabling reproduction to restart the cycle. The
most critical phases are chrysalis formation and metamorphosis,
where the insect's body structure radically reorganizes."
Body 1 (Early Stages):
"Initially, a female butterfly attaches tiny eggs to host plant leaves,
which hatch within 3-10 days depending on temperature. The
emerging caterpillar then enters the larval stage, consuming leaves
voraciously for 2-4 weeks while molting its exoskeleton five times to
accommodate growth. During this phase, environmental
temperature critically influences development speed."
Body 2 (Later Stages):
"Subsequently, the mature caterpillar forms a chrysalis, suspending
itself from a twig. Inside this protective casing, larval tissues
dissolve over 10-14 days and reorganize into adult structures
through histolysis. The final adult butterfly emerges with crumpled
wings that expand and harden within hours, ready for mating and
egg-laying to continue the species' lifecycle."
