Activity Title:
“Fix the Broken
Sentences”
I have here a piece of
broken sentences that
you need to fix to become
complete simple
sentence.
 Runs very fast.  Runs very fast
 The little boy. → The dog runs
 Playing in the park. very fast.
 Ate a delicious  The little boy
cake. → The little boy
 My friends and I. is sleeping.

Call pupils one at a time


to choose a broken
sentence and “fix” it by
adding the missing part.

A simple sentence has a


subject and a predicate. If
one part is missing, it’s
incomplete — so we must
fix it to make sense!"
C. Motivation Activity Title:
“The Conjunction Train”

Preparation

 Make train engine


and car pictures
on cardboard or
colored paper.
 On each “car,” write
one word or short
phrase.
Example:

Car 1: I like apples


Car 2: I like bananas
Car 3: She sings well
Car 4: She dances well

 Make small cards


with
conjunctions: and,
but, or, because, so

 Presentation

 Show the train


engine with two
cars separated.
 Say: “Uh-oh! Our
train is broken! We
need something to
connect the cars so
they can travel
together.”

 Activity

 Call volunteers to
choose the correct
“connector” card
(conjunction) to join
the two train cars.
Example:
o “I like apples”
and “I like
bananas.”
o “She sings
well” but
“she dances
well.”
 When they pick the
right one, place the
conjunction card
between the two
cars, forming a
whole “sentence
train.”

 Sharing

 Let the class read


the full sentence
aloud like a train
whistle: “Choo-
choo!” 🚂

D. Presentation “Just like a connector


links train cars, a
conjunction links words,
phrases, or sentences.
Let’s explore all the ways
we can use them.”

The words and, but, or,


and because are what
we call Conjunctions.
E. Discussions A conjunction is a
joining word. It connects
words or sentences.

4 common
conjunctions:

1. and – joins similar


ideas.
o I like apples
and bananas.
2. but – shows a
difference.
o I like apples
but not
bananas.
3. or – shows a choice.
o Do you like
apples or
bananas?
4. because – gives a
reason.
o I eat fruits
because they
are healthy.

F. Exercises Activity 1 – Find the

 Teacher reads:
o She plays and
sings.
o I am tired but
happy.
 Pupils clap when
they hear the
conjunction
 .

Activity 2 – Fill in the


Blank

 I like cats ___ dogs.

 I wear a jacket ___ it
is cold. (because)

Activity – Sentence
Relay Game

 Divide class into 2


groups.
 Each group is given
sets of sentence
halves.
 They match the
halves using the
correct conjunction.
Example:
 “I am happy” + “it’s
my birthday.”
(because)
 “She runs fast” +
“she is tired.” (but)

G. Generalization Ask:

 What is a
conjunction?
 What are the four
conjunctions we
learned?
 Give one sentence
using each.
