• Used for both small and large database
deployments
Create a filename and decide
where to save your file.
Click create when done.
If 2016 version:
To import look for External Data
then Text File icon.
If 2019 version:

To import look for External Data


then Text File icon.
Look for the file.
Open the file.
Make sure to choose the first button
then click OK.
Choose Delimited.
Choose Comma and First Row…
Choose Primary Key
Click “Advanced..” to check decimal point
If the symbol
is “Comma”..
Change to
decimal point
If there are
dates, check
the format
Assign correct
Data Types
You should be able to see the table.
Drop down the Field Name to
see options.
To go to Design View, right click
on the table’s tab.
The Data Types can be changed
by clicking the drop down icon.
To set the Primary Key, right click
on the Field Name.
Primary key -a special relational database table
column designated to uniquely identify all table
records.
To change Primary Key:
Right click on the cell then click
“Primary Key”.

If there is date/time,check “General” tab below and
fix the format
To change
Data Type:

Click on the drop down icon then click


which type is needed.
To add options for a
specific Data Type:

Click on the drop down


icon then choose
“Lookup Wizard”
Choose “I will type…”
then “Next”.
Type in the cells the
options in Col1.
Then “Next” then
“Finish”
To check the options:
Go back to Datasheet view.
Right click on tab then
“Datasheet View”

To check the options:


Click drop down icon.
For Boolean:
To change into Check Box or Text Box:
In the Design View.
After choosing
Boolean, go to
“Lookup” below
then choose the
desired option.
Then check
Ex: Check Box: Datasheet View.
