Dear Professor Fan,
I am writing to express my strong interest in pursuing a Ph.D. under your supervision at
Michigan State University. I have recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical
Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) with a CGPA
of 3.52/4.00, and I am eager to further my academic and research career in heat transfer,
molecular dynamics, computational fluid dynamics related studies.
During my undergraduate studies, I have been actively engaged in computational research. My
senior thesis work focused on natural convection heat transfer in enclosures, where I explored
parametric optimization. Additionally, I have been involved in molecular dynamics simulations
with LAMMPS, investigating phenomena such as boiling heat transfer on wettability-gradient
surfaces and graphene oxide–reinforced composites. These experiences have developed my skills
in numerical simulation, FEM (COMSOL), and high-performance computing, which align
closely with the methodologies applied in your research group. I have one conference paper on
the verge of publication and I wrote a chapter of a book as a first author on wind energy which is
in the final stage of proofreading. Besides those, I have two complete manuscripts on
thermofluidic research not yet submitted.
I am particularly fascinated by your work on Enhanced solar thermal evaporation of ethanol -
water mixtures, through the use of porous media and Enhanced voltage generation through
electrolyte on liquid filled surface. I believe my background in computational modeling,
coupled with my growing interest in simulations of fluid and thermal systems, makes me a strong
candidate to contribute to your ongoing projects. Furthermore, I am motivated to broaden my
expertise under your mentorship and contribute to advancing the frontiers of thermofluidic
researches.
