i. Introduction to sequence
ii. Exploring Different Types of Sequences: Arithmetic,
Geometric, and Harmonic
iii. The Fibonacci sequence: Properties and applications
Sequence Detectives: Can you find what’s next?
DIRECTION: Examine each given carefully. Identify the given number, letter, or combination pattern,

Number sequences are one of the basic patterns that govern much of the
world around us. Sequences help us identify order and predict outcomes
and, most importantly, can make sense out of chaos. The consistent
progression of numbers has practical applications across various
industries, including body measurements, interest calculations, and data
analysis, shaping our perception of reality. Understanding these patterns
enhances problem-solving and prediction skills, which are valuable in
many fields, including IQ testing. Exploring number sequences may
reveal hidden structures in the universe's sophisticated designs, which
improves our comprehension of its complexity.

Sequence refers to an arrangement of objects, often numbers

that come in order, with a pattern, and have a definite rule. If a
sequence is a set of numbers, it is like a function whose domain is
a set of positive integers. In sequence, "order" refers to the
arrangement of the sequence, usually increasing or decreasing.
A "pattern" follows the order, allowing for the identification of
succeeding terms in the sequence. The "definite rule" describes
the operation that governs the sequence, typically involving
addition, multiplication, or other mathematical operations.

When working with any type of sequence, there are several useful steps you can take to
determine the next terms based on a few given terms of the sequence.
STEP 1: WRITE DOWN THE SEQUENCE – clearly list out terms of the sequence
STEP 2: LOOK FOR PATTERN – Patterns can be varied, begin by asking about the basic
operation that governs the sequence, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, or
division. Is the sequence increasing or decreasing? Does the sequence use a special
pattern (square, cube, letters, factorial, etc.
STEP 3: TEST FOR CONSISTENCY – Check if the pattern applies from the start to the last known
term of the sequence.

STEP 4: APLY THEFOUND PATTERN TO PREDICT THE NEXT TERM – Apply the identified
pattern to predict the next term in the sequence.

STEP 5: VERIFY THE PREDICTION – Check if your prediction correctly applies to all the terms in
the sequence. If your prediction doesn’t match, reassess the pattern, or try a different approach.

GEOMETRIC SEQUENCE

is a sequence that has a number r in which it is multiplied by the

previous term to obtain the next term, in geometric sequence we
need to look for the common ratio.

FIBONACCI SEQUENCE
FIBONACCI SEQUENCE

This specific sequence was named after

an Italian mathematician Leonardo
Pisano Bigollo (1170 - 1250). He
discovered the sequence while he was
study of numbers governed by some
unusual arithmetic rule. The sequence
is organized in a way a number can be
obtained by adding the two previous
numbers.

Perfect illustration of nature’s beauty

Standard for beauty and aesthetics because it seems to
appear often in nature ( some petals and leaves of plants),
but cannot be considered as universal property.
The ratio of its preceding term to previous term will lead to
the GOLDEN RATIO.
