Kayaker is going up a river, and the speed of boat in still water is 5km/hr. It
takes 1 hour more to row boat 5.25km upstream then to return downstream.
a) Find the quadratic equation for the speed of stream?
b) Calculate the speed of the stream.
c) What is the time taken to go downstream by the boat?
43. A company is going to make frames as part of a new product they are
launching. The frame will be cut out from a pirce of steel, and to keep the
weight down, the final area of the frame should be k cm2. The inside of the
frame has to be 11cm by 6 cm. Let x be the width of the frame then answer
the following.
A) Write the quadratic equation to find the width of frame if the area of piece
of steel before cutting be 150 cm2.
B) If the area of frame be 84cm2, then find the width of the frame.
C) Calculate the final area of the frame, if the width of the frame would be
4cm.
