Community Service/ Paid Work Hours
• Required for Bright Futures
• Community service vs. Volunteer service
• Hours earned from Summer before 9th grade until graduation day
• Confirm PRIOR to doing service hours for confirmation if uncertain
• Transcripts list number of hours ONLY
• Service Hours over 50 hours MUST be accompanied by letterhead
from the Non-profit confirming hours completed
• Performances/Art exhibits can count for community service IF
participation is not tied to a grade or compensated
– Partial rehearsal hours may be counted; performance hours
may be matched with the same number of rehearsal hours.
– Ex. 2 hour performance gets 4 hours of community service
(2 hours for performance and 2 hours for rehearsal).
