Motion Problems

The document presents a series of physics problems involving motion, acceleration, and velocity. Each problem requires the application of kinematic equations to determine final velocities, distances traveled, and accelerations under various conditions. The problems cover scenarios involving cars, bicycles, balls, runners, trains, rockets, stones, and skateboarders.

Solve the following problems:

1. A car starts from rest and accelerates at a rate of 2m/s2 for 10 seconds. What is its final
velocity?
2. A bicycle is moving at a velocity of 5m/s. It accelerates at 1.5m/ s2 for 4 seconds. How
far does it travel in this time?
3. A ball is dropped from a height. After 3 seconds, its velocity is 29.4m/s. What is the
acceleration of the ball? (Assume it starts from rest).
4. A runner accelerates from 2m/s to 8m/s over a distance of 15 meters. What is the runner's
acceleration?
5. A train is traveling at 20m/s. The brakes are applied, causing a deceleration of −1m/ s2.
How long does it take for the train to come to a complete stop?
6. A rocket starts from rest and reaches a velocity of 100m/s in 5 seconds. What is the
distance it travels during this time?
7. A stone is thrown downwards with an initial velocity of 5m/s. It accelerates at 9.8m/ s2
and hits the ground after 4 seconds. What is its final velocity just before it hits the
ground?
8. An object moving at 10m/s is uniformly accelerated to 20m/s over a distance of 75
meters. What is its acceleration?
9. A car slows down from a velocity of 30m/s to 10m/s over a distance of 50 meters. What
is its acceleration?
10. A skateboarder is moving at an initial velocity of 3m/s. They accelerate at 0.5m/ s2. What
is their velocity after they have traveled a distance of 10 meters?
