1
Existing CIM Integration in COEP Technological University & New Integrations that can
improve the Student life.
The university encourages academic excellence, simplifies administrative duties, and supports a nice campus life by
carefully implementing a variety of digital tools. In order to further improve the experience of staff and students, the
following assignment provides the details about the available CIM integration in the college and some
improvements/new methods that can be utilised to improve the student life.

Current CIM Integration in COEP

1. Modern programs like Autodesk, the university has labs that give students practical experience with 3D
modelling and computer-aided design. The "Virtual Labs" develop the campus's ability to enhance the quality of
practical experience provided to the students with a blend of remote experimentation.
2. By using Moodle as its main Learning Management System (LMS), the university makes sure that all of its
communications, assignments, and course materials are in one easily accessible place. Students can also use
Turnitin to check for plagiarism in their research papers/assignments, and NPTEL (National Programme on
Technology-Enhanced Learning) for additional online learning.
3. The university uses its MIS (Management Information System) portal to handle a variety of tasks, such as tracking
academic progress, financial records, and student registration. Fee payments are done by the SB Collect
platform, and the contemporary ID card system not only grants access to the campus but also integrates with
the MIS for security.
4. To make sure that the university follows the NEP guidelines, the university also participates in national digital
initiatives like DigiLocker and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). As a centre for networking, mentoring, and
involvement with the university's mission, the Alumni Association Portal is essential to maintaining ties with
former students.
5. The Knowledge Resource Centre, which is the library. To manage its vast collection of digital and physical
resources, it has an integrated automation system and the SLIM21 Library Management Software. Students have
access to a collection of e-journals and databases from ScienceDirect and IEEE.

Provided CIM Integration for improving students’ lives

Proposed Integration 1: A Student Hub for Activities and Events
A specialized Student Activity and Event Management System could be put in place to streamline and centralize the
administration of student life. This one platform would be the primary source for learning about and participating in events
on campus.

Design and Implementation of the System

With a scalable backend like Node.js and a PostgreSQL or MongoDB database, this system could be developed as a
contemporary web application utilizing frameworks like React for a responsive user interface. Most importantly, it would
be seamlessly integrated with the current MIS portal for student authentication.

• Students could easily locate and sign up for workshops, club meetings, and important events with the help
of a single, all-inclusive calendar.
• The system would remove the need for manual paperwork by automating the approval process for new
events, from budget tracking to proposal submission.
• To be able to better allocate resources and support the most influential clubs, the university could acquire
important insights into trends in student engagement.

Proposed Integration 2: A Safe Online Grievance Portal

While it is a Grievances Redressal Committee, a digital system may make it quicker and quieter to submit and track
feedback.
System Design and Implementation

It would be ideal to have a user-friendly online portal with a secure, serverless backend like Firebase and a lightweight
frontend framework like Next.js. Each complaint may be tracked in real time with a database such as Firestore.

Key Benefits

• Staff and students could easily file complaints at any time, from any device.
• A way to submit unidentified would allow others to bring up sensitive subjects without worrying about the
consequences.
• The system would guarantee accountability by offering an open account for each grievance, from submission
to resolution.

Proposed Integration 3: Comprehensive Hostel Management System

A Digital Hostel Management System would be an important way to modernize student housing management. From the
initial application to daily operations, this application would handle it all.

System Design and Implementation

For a secure backend, this full-stack application might use a framework like Django. It would be made to sync student
data with the university's MIS portal. A module for handling maintenance requests, automated room assignment, and an
online application process are some of the features.

Key Benefits

• Staff and students would save countless hours by using a paperless application and payment process.
• For all hostel residents, the system would act as a primary means of communication for announcements
and critical updates.
• More effective management would result from administrators having a real-time picture of occupancy rates
and needs for resources.

Proposed Integration 4: Personalized Career and Placement Platform

A centralized online career development platform would be a great tool to support the Training and Placement Cell's work
even more.

System Design and Implementation

A complete web application with a scalable backend and a responsive frontend would be a good option. To manage user
data, job postings, and student profiles, a relational database such as MySQL would be necessary.

Key Benefits

• Student Information could be used by the system to connect them to suitable internship and employment
opportunities.
• The process was made simpler and more effective by allowing students to manage all of their applications
from a single dashboard.
• To help the TnP Cell better prepare students for the job market, the platform may offer data on student skills
and industry trends.

Conclusion
The university can increase student engagement, further streamline operations, and create a more responsive and
positive environment by putting these suggested new systems into place. COEP will continue to lead engineering
education and serve as a model for other institutions thanks to its ongoing digital landscape evolution.
