Did you understand class?

e. Review -Yes ma’am

-Class, before we proceed, what
was our topic last meeting? Ma’am it is all about fraction.
-What is Fraction?
-Pupils response
B. Motivation
For this afternoon we are going to play the
game called “Guess the scrambled word but
before that I will group you into two groups.
The group who will lost on this game will do
the dance consequence.

-Did you understand class? -Yes ma’am

-Are you excited to guess the scrambled -Yes ma’am

words?

Activity no. 1 Scrambled Word

Word no.1
T I O A
R
-What is this class? -Ratio ma’am

Word no. 2
N E L A
T -Equivalent ma’am
V I U Q E
Word no. 3
R O T I
P
O N P O R
What is this class? -Proportion ma’am

Do you know what these words are class? -Pupils response

Let the pupils read the words they guess and

its meaning.

Ratio
-is a comparison of two quantities with the
same unit6s or classification.

Equivalent
-equal in value, amount etc.

Proportion
-an equation in which two ratios are set
equal to each other.

-do you have any idea about our topic this

-Pupils response
afternoon class?
E.DISCUSSION
-Our topic this afternoon is about equivalent
and simplest form of ratios.

-But before that always remember, the ratio

can be written in 3 different forms. First we
can write the ratio in word form, colon form
and the third is the fraction form.

-Did you get it class? -Yes ma’am

May present to you the butterflies’ bees and
dragon flies.

-Now let’s try to find the ratio.

1.Butterflies to bees

-How many butterflies are there in the slide? -9 ma’am

-Very good!

-How many bees are in the slide?

-Now! Let’s write in the word form so 9 is to -6 ma’am

6,How about in colon form we will write it as
9:6 and the last one in fraction form we will
write it as 9/6.

-Did you get it?

-Yes ma’am
Now try to answer the ratio of the bees to
dragon flies with it in word form, colon form
and fraction form.

-Are you done class?

-Pupils response
-Now let’s see if all of your answers is COLON FORM FRACTION FORM
correct. WORD FORM
6 is to 3 6:3 6
-Very good! You are fast learners. 3
In your previews grade you already learned
to write equivalent ration. Do you still
remember it? -Pupils response

-equivalent ratios are ratio that have the

same value when simplified.

-Equivalent ratios can be obtained by

multiplying or dividing both sides by the
same non-zero number.
Ex.
2 4 6
No. of
boys
No. of 3 6 9
girls

-Among the ratios the simplest form is 2/3

-How to get 6 by multiplying

2\3 *2= 4\6 is to 6 by multiplying 4\6*3= 6\9

-Now we can say that 2\3 is equal to 4/6 and

also is equal to 6\9.

-Now hoe do we Identify equivalent ratios

foe ex. We have two given pair of ratios the
how do we identify if they are equivalent or
equal

First Method

Cross- Product-Method or CMM

Cross- Multiplication Method

3 6 =30
5 10 =30

2nd Method

Means and Extreme

Means – are the two inner numbers

5:6 =15:18

Extreme – are the two outer numbers 90=90

D. Application
Activity

Class we will be have a group activity .I will

divide you into 2 group.
Write the first four executive ratios of the
following ratios?

Group 1
3 6 9 12 15
3\5 - = = = =
8 10 15 20 25
Group 2

1\8 1 2 3 4 5
- = = = =
5 16 18 26 34
E. Generalization
- Are there any question class?
- Very good, then give yourselves a 5
claps 1,2,3,4,5 very good -(clap 5x)
F. Evaluation
A. Express in simplest form. Express in simplest form?
1. 9:12=____
2. 5:15=____
B. Give at least 3 equivalent ratios to
each of the following.
1. 2:6=_____
2. 8:12=_____-
C. Find the missing term in the
proportion.
1. 2:3=__:9
2. __:8=15:24
D. Solve the following numbers
1. Two numbers are in a ratio of
2:5. If their sum is 105, find the
bigger number.

G. Assignment
Answer the following problems.

1. There are 36 learners in a Grade 4 class. If

14 of them are boys. What is ratio of girls to
boys?

2. The savings of Kyle and Peter are in ratio

of 6:7. If the longer piece is 35 meters long.
