A. GENERAL ITEM

Provide an office block for the sole use of the engineer and his staff having a minimum

Resident Engineer The office shall have adequate space with all necessary utilities

of the contract It will be constructed as per the design drawings as prepared by the
consultant and attached to this document.

Provide a toilet block for the sole use of the engineer and his staff having a minimum area
of 6m² (including 2m² verandah) to be constructed Toilets shall be built separately and
adjacent to the office including lockable doors & windows It shall also have standard &

required It shall be constructed all the same way and with the same materials as the
engineer's office except that supply and fixation of plywood to the internal wall surface

Provide a store blocks for the sole use of the engineer and his staff having a minimum area

Provide New Surveying Equipment for the sole use of the engineer and his staff. The

ranging rods, measuring tape pegs etc., Necessary for the work. These instruments shall be
to the satisfaction of the engineer
Covering expenses of Birr 2500/month for Wifi for both & Birr 1700/month

Birr 1 000/month to the assistant.
 Provide for the sole use of the engineer efficient secretary, desktop computer, and

and other pertinent expenses of computer's and printer's purchasing cost, printer's
toner and ofher related costs shall be covered by the contractor or deducted from any

Provide office furnitures such as tables, choirs, shelves, gust chairs and

A-SUB STRUCTURE

1.0 EXCAVATION & EARTH WORK

2.02

Reinforced concrete class in C-25/30 with a 28-day 150mm characteristic cubic strength of
25MPa Cast in to form works and vibrated around rod reinforcement bars (form work and
reinforcement bars are measured separately) the type of cement to be ordinary Portland
cement of 400ka/m³. Unit Price Shall include all the necessury chemicals used to attain the
required Concrete grade. The specified concrete strength for Every Element of Structure
must be confirmed by laboratory test.

2.BLOCK WORK

Walls shall be constructed from class 'B' hollow concrete blocks of minimum compressive
strength should be 4.5 MPa. The blocks shall be selected for their consistency in
dimension, Shape, angles and strength. The Blocks should also be free from cracks or any
other defects and the surface characteristic of the blocks shall be in such a way that good
key fur plaster is obtainod. Samples and test results shall be submitted for approval by the
Engineer before uny blocks are delivered or used in the construction of the works.

2.01 Supply and Construct 20cm thick HCB wall, embedded in cement-sand mortar of 1:3 mix

3.ROOFING AND WATER PROFING

 Apply APP modifled bituminious membrane min.thickness not less than 4mm slated tinish

3.01 manufacturer's instruction. The cost shall include cleaning of all dirts and dust materials.
The work shall be done on sub-contractual base with the supplier of the material which
will give material and construction guarantee to the client. The work shall include tasting

5.1 ALUMINIUM WORKS

Supply and fix Imported Type Aluminum framed windows, window doors & doors as per
the manufacturer instruction. -Aluminum profile should be 2mm thick anodized type and
plate should be 3mm thick -All accessories shall be best quality and full fill ASTM/EN
quality standard requirement & to be approved by desighner prior to fixing. - Anodized
thickness should be 15-20 micro meter - Price and Complete work include all the necessary
iron mongery, Locks shall be ASSA or equivalent type of cylindrical lock, door stopper,
glass, etc and all accessories to complete the work. Ail aluminum windows and doors type
shall be in accordance with the technical specification requirement, Architect's preference
and approval
All works shall be as per the Architectural detail drawings and all other necessary
accessories needed to complete the works without any defect. Unit of measurement for
price fixing should be considered as square meter.
5.1.1
All windows & doors are manufactured from single glazed aluminium profile frames. All
works should be cut & assembled to size of window & door schedule up on submitting
workshop drawing by the contractor. Unit price includes 2mm thick aluminium cover

5.2 METAL WORKS

5.2.1

Fabricate, assemble and fix hand rail made from 50x50x2.5mm RHS top rail welded to
40x40x2mm RHS post fixed to concrete floor placed c/c 840mm,(H=1000mm) including
40x40x2.5mm Horizontal RHS rails in three rows welded to RHS ballustrade placed c/c
140mm. Unit price includes one coat of antirust and two coats of synthetic enamel paint
and all the neccessary accessories to complet the work.
5.2.2

7.02

Supply and fix high quality imported type Polished non slipery Porcelain floor tile lay over
the pre finished screed surface with a water absorption of less than 0.05% and surface
roughnessvalue R=10. The tile shall be 1cm thick. Price shall include cement sand mortar
screed(1:3) ratio backing Max Fix or equivalent cement adhesive & water proof joint filler
or equivalent. Pattern, size, colour & cement adhesive shall be approved by engineer.

7.03

Supply and fix high quality importednon slipery Ceramic Floor Tiles with surface
roughnessvalue R=11 The tile shall be 1cm thick. Price shall include cement sand mortar
screed(1:3) ratio backing, Max Fix equivalent cement adhesive & water proof joint filler or
equivalent. Pattern, colour & cement adhesive shall be approved by engineer.

7.04
Supply and fix approved quality imported 8mm thick Ceramic wall tiles Price shall include
cement sand mortar (1:3) ratio backing, adhesive with Max Fix or equivulent & grouting
with water proof joint filler.The consultant must approve the size, pattern,color & texture
of the tiles.

7.05 Ditto above but imported type porcelain skirting. The skirting shall be champhered top one
edge & recessed & flasehed to the vertical walls. Size 80cm x 1cm

280x30mm granite window sill cut to appropriate size, weathered and mounted on and
including 30mm thick cement mortar (1:3) bedding. Price includes making water drip and
edge chamfering as shown on the Architectural detail drawing.

7.07 200x20mm granito door threshold cut to appropriate size, weathered and mounted on and
including 30mm thick cement mortar (1:3) bedding.

7.08
Supply and lay Shaw Carpet or equivalent tile made of 100% nylon, tufted size 50 x 50
x6mm as per european stadards. Price shall include approved tipe glue. Colour, pattern and
special adhesive glue all the neccessary accessories and material to complete the work and
shall be approved by the engineer.

7.09 Ditto above but skirting. The skirting size shall be 100cm x 6mm

7.1 Supply and lay polished, chamfered imported type Granite floor Tiles.The price shall
include chisling and pre craning of surface.

7.11

screed around the building. Price include1.20m wide and 10cm thick C-15 concrete all
around the building layed on 20cm thick hard core well blinded, dia 8mm bar c/c 25cm and
5cm cement sand screed and all assistance civil works. .The color, size and texture should
be approved by the architect or the engineer.
7.12

Provide green areas where specified on the site plan drawings. Plant shall be set in position
in the of holes and holes back filled around the roots. The top layer shall be fine graded
using suitable top soil obtained from site or imported from appropriate location. All plants
and grass shall be protected by erecting temporary fences, signs and other protection as
needed to prevent trampling. Price shall include all the necessary works.
8.0 GLAZING

8.01 Supply and fix 5 mm thick clear sheet glass to aluminium window & doors price shall
include cost of rubber.
9.0 PAINTING
9.1 APPLY Three Coat of plastic emulsion paint price shall include cleaing and preparation of
the surface

9.2 Apply Quartez Point to External wall surface, price shall include all cost of preparation

10.0 SANITARY INSTALLATION

All fixtures which are specified below is subject to the owner's consultant's approval, based
on samples, catalogues and brochures presented by the contractor. Unit price shall include
all the necessary fixing brackets or hooks and all assistance civil works such as chiseling of
walls, floors, beams and etc.
Chlorinotion of pipe

General
Before being put into service ,all pipes intended to
carry potable wafer shall be chlorinated by introducing
a chlorine solution into the pipes so that a chlorine
residue of not less than 1 0 ppm remains in the water
after 24 hours standing in the pipe.

Flushing

Prior to chlorination, all pipes shall be flushed with

clear water flowing at the velocity of above 1.0m/sec ,
or as ag reed with the engineer. The contractor shall
take all necessary precaution to p regent disposal
of the flushing water from causing damege to any
property or public utility\ and shall keep the employer
indemified against any claims on this account.
Flushing of pipes may b required to be carried out
at night time, depending on availability of water and
extent of interference involved in supply of water to
consumers; the contractor must include in his rates for this night work.

10.1 SANITARY EQUIPMENT (FIXTURES)

a) All fixtures specified bclow are subject to the owner's or consultants approval based on
samples,catalogues and brochures presented by the contractor.
b) Method of installation shall follow the recommendations of EBCS-9
c) All fixtures must bear at least CE or equivalent material quality ceritification.

Vanity Type Hand Wash Basin

Supply and fix PHELEXICARE or Equivalent Vanity type hand wash basin unil designed
to assist disahled people and those with limited reach. The vanity top is to be designed with
the bowl area as close as possible to the user.

The Vanity top is to be made from water-resistant granite topping. The front apron to have
a depth of only 100mm to allow for free access for knees.

with all other hose to be REMER/JAQUAR or Equivalent, necessary accessories. Flexible
hose of Length 60cm to be Vinyl coated and should be capable of resisting pressure of 4
bar. P-smell trap should be brass chrome plated with 50mm height of water seal and trap.
Color of the Granite topping to be decided by the Architect.

Supply and fix PENTLAND or equivalent Close-coupled white vitreous china water closet
unit designed to assist disabled people and those with limited reach. The unit has to be
integrated with close-coupled low-flush 7.5litre capacity cistern. The unit should be
suitable for transfer from a wheel chair. Flexible hose to be REMER/JAQUAR or
Equivalent, Length 60cm to be Vinyl coated and should be capable of resisting pressure of
4 bar. P-smell trap should be brass chrome plated with 50mm height of water seal and trap.

Water Closet
10.1.3

Supply and fix water closet, of wash down action, floor mounted, vertical outlet (floor
drainage), close coupled, made of white vitreous China (BS 3402). The fixture shall
conform to BS5503-2 or equivalent institution. Thewaste fittings, connecting pieces, fixing
and supportingelement and other accessories which completes the set shall comply with the
relevant clauses of BS standards or equivalent institution.
