General Information

1. How do I pay my bill?


Visit our How to Pay Your Bill page to learn how to pay your bill each month. What forms of
payment does Verizon Wireless accept?
o My Verizon website and app

o Pay using our automated phone system

o Pay by mail

o Pay at a Verizon Store


We recommend you set up Auto Pay to save time each month and ensure your bill is paid on
time. Depending on your plan you may be eligible for a discount (per each eligible line on your
account) when you sign up for Auto Pay. Visit the Auto Pay FAQs below to learn more, or go to
our How to Use Auto Pay for instructions.
2. What forms of payment does Verizon Wireless accept?
You can use the following payment methods for paying your bill with the My Verizon app, the
My Verizon website, or in a Verizon store:
o Check
o Credit, debit or ATM card with a logo for one of the following companies:

▪ Visa®
▪ MasterCard®
▪ Discover®
▪ American Express®
▪ PULSE®
▪ NYCE®
▪ STAR®
o Verizon Wireless Gift Card

Note: You can also pay cash in Verizon Wireless stores.


When mailing in a check you can pay your bill using:

o Check
o Money order
3. I want to pay my bill in cash and my local Verizon store is closed. Where can I go to
make a payment?
If you want to pay your bill in cash and your local Verizon store is closed, you can visit a Fiserv
CheckFreePay or Western Union location to make a payment.

Find your nearest location:

o CheckFreePay

o Western Union
Please contact the location prior to visiting to make sure they are open.

Note: You may be charged up to a $3 convenience at these locations for making a cash
payment.
4. How do I add or change a payment method?
Visit our How to manage payment methods page to learn how to add and change a payment
method using the My Verizon website and app.

5. Is there a charge for making a payment?


We don't charge fees for using any of our self-serve payment methods, such as the My Verizon
app, online in My Verizon or using Auto Pay. However, you should check with your bank or
credit card company to see if they charge a fee for processing the transaction.

A $7 Agent Assistance Fee will be charged for any payment or payment arrangement made with
a Customer Service Representative over the phone.

6. Is there a charge for a returned check?


Yes, there's a non-sufficient funds fee for a returned check. The fee amount depends on what
state you live in.

Non-sufficient funds fee amount by state:


o $20 in Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana, New York & Utah

o $25 in all other states

7. How do I use a Verizon Wireless gift card to pay my bill?


Follow the instructions on how to pay your bill. When selecting a payment method you’ll need
to select the Add a Payment option and then select gift card.
8. How do I split payments with multiple people on my account?
You can find the monthly charges for each individual line on your account on the Bill page in the
My Verizon website. The charge due for each line is displayed on your bill. You can tap or click
an individual line to see a breakdown of charges.

9. When is my bill payment due?


Your bill payment is due 22 days after the bill period ends (e.g., your Oct 18 bill is due Nov 10).
If you’re the account owner or the account manager, you can change your payment due
date. Learn how to change your payment due date.
The due date is shown on the first page of your bill. To see your due date in the My Verizon app
or My Verizon online, choose Bill from the top menu then choose Bill Overview. Scroll down
and click the Bill pdf.

You can make your payment anytime on or before the due date.

10. How do I know when it’s time to pay my bill?

We automatically send you an email or text message reminder for payment if:
o You set up a My Verizon account.
o You have a balance due and haven’t made a payment 2 days before the payment
due date.

o You're not signed up for AutoPay.


As the account owner or account manager, you can set emails and texts to notify you when
your bill is ready and when it’s time to make a payment. Learn how to set up reminders to
know when your bill is due.

11. Can I change my payment due date?


Yes. If you're the account owner or the account manager, you can change the due date for your
bill once per billing period. Call a Verizon customer service representative or dial *611 from
your phone to change.
Keep in mind:
o Changes can't be made while the current bill is processing (during the 4 days
after your billing period ends).
o When you change your payment due date, your billing period changes (since the
payment due date is always 22 days after the last day of the billing period).
o To adjust from the old to the new billing period, you may get up to 3 separate bill
statements in 45 days. Each bill may include a device payment charge and each
must be paid.*
Note: If you need to change just an upcoming payment date because of unexpected
circumstances, you can consider a payment arrangement instead of changing your billing
period.

*The total number of your device payments doesn't change.

12. When is my payment late? Am I going to be charged a late fee?


If we don't get your payment on or before the due date we charge whichever is greater:
o A late fee of up to 1.5 percent per month (18 percent per year) on the unpaid
balance

o A flat $5 per month (if allowed by law in the state of your billing address.)

13. What if I can’t pay my bill on time?
If you are unable to pay your bill you can set up a payment arrangement to ensure your service
stays active until you can pay you bill. You can either set up a promise to pay or you can
schedule a payment for when your funds will be available. Learn more at our Payment

14. My account is disconnected. Can I still pay my bill online?


Yes, you can pay your bill at the Sign in to a Disconnected Account page if your account has
been disconnected for less than 6 months. If it's been longer than 6 months, you can pay online
with the Pay My Bill page.

15. When will my payment be processed?


Scheduled payments: It will be debited from your checking account or charged to your
credit/debit card on the scheduled payment date.

One-time payments: It will be debited or charged within 24 hours of submitting the payment.
16. I have a prepaid account. Where can I find information on making a payment?
Refer to the Making Payments section of our Prepaid Service FAQs for information on prepaid
payments.
