Part 1: Structure of the Exam:
Speaking Review
15 minutes + Recorded + Examiner doesn’t smile + Face mask + one to one + Speak English on your own.
Zero 2 minutes + Greeting + show your ID
Relax:
- Go to the exam early.
- Walk for sometime
- Speak English on your own
- Listen to English
First 5 minutes + max 12 questions (personal)
Second 3 minutes + 2-3 follow up questions (very short)
1 min preparation
2 mins
Third 5 minutes + 4-6 global questions
Part 2: Speaking Techniques
‐2‐ Cambridge Techniques (RICE theory by MKM)
R Relevance of Answers= Stay on Topic: “Who is your celebrity?” + “Do you prefer carpooling?”
Don’t be stressed. (I’m afraid I don’t fully understand what you mean/ Do you mean….?= twice)
You can ask for the repetition of the question: “I’m afraid/sorry I don’t hear you or don’t understand the question.” Or “I don’t get
what you mean.” (do you mean type of food?/ elaborate) (how important is manufactured food?)= Do you mean processed food
like hotdogs? (twice) + (WHAT…impolite) + Sorry?/ pardon me? Excuse me?
Don’t rush into the answers when you are stuck. You can have sometime by saying:
That’s a tricky question.

Range of Vocabulary: REFRAIN FROM PARROTING (Use starters instead of repeating questions)+ never say “What”
‐ Try not to repeat the exact words from the question.
‐ You can use synonyms (neighborhood=district)
‐ You can paraphrase the question (junk food= street food) or traffic jam= congestion or streets crowded by cars and vehicles.
