General Information
1General Information
• With the distribution of this revision level, all preceding Planning Guides, Speed Infos
(PGs) and their drafts become invalid.
• There must be a note referring to the installation and delivery conditions of the Med
group on all construction plans which are produced by the Planning Departments. The
installation and delivery conditions shall be enclosed with the plans when shipped.
• Unless otherwise stated, all dimensions are in "mm".
• Orientation Points
- Points belonging to system components to which reference are made to each other
or to which reference is made in room when positioning system parts.
• Fixpoints
- Clearly designated points on system components, installation ceiling, walls or floors
at which cable outlets are located.
- Illustration in the Drawings: Octagon with letter / number combination.
- The cable lengths determine the maximum fix point distances, and thus the maxi-
mum distances between the individual system components.
• Room Height
- The room height is the internal dimension measured from the top edge of the fin-
ished floor up to the bottom edge of the ceiling substructure (bottom edge of the fin-
ished ceiling)
• Room Lighting
- According to DIN 68 68-57 (international standard in preparation), the lighting in
rooms in which diagnoses are made on video display units (monitors) must meet the
following requirements:
adjustable, glare-free, reproducible setting of the luminous intensity (e.g. dimmer
with scale), no mirroring or reflections from windows, lights and view boxes in the nor-
mal operating position of the monitors.

6 General Information
Safety Information 1.1
• The requirements of the relevant fire protection regulations must be observed for the
premises.
• The system was developed according to EN 60601-1.
• Minimum data (e.g. room heights, safety distances) are identified in the Planning Guide
as 'min.'
• Basic Resistance to Sources of Electromagnetic Interference
- Consequent effects of lightning discharges.
- The protection objectives of the different lightning protection zones up to the system
connection are specified in IEC 1024, DIN 48810, VDE 0675 and the DEMVT recom-
mendations, as well as in other standards.
NOTE The system does not meet the requirements for AP Classifi-
cation. Use in areas with explosive atmosphere as defined by
IEC 60601-1, Main Section 6, is not permitted.
NOTE The RF swing generator is installed under the table in a mov-
able container. No generator PG.

28 Installation Preparations
On-Site Electrical Installation 3.1
The detailed regulations regarding electrical installations must be observed.
In Germany, the most important standards used are in the series VDE 0100 and IEC
60364-7-710; in other countries, they are the applicable national regulations.
Notes on the following pages contain recommendations for on-site electrical
installation in accordance with IEC 60364-7-710. 0
RCD Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters
• Use only ground fault circuit interrupters for alternating and pulsed DC fault currents,
with no surge current, with I∇N = 30 mA.
• An RCD ground fault circuit interrupter cannot be used in power networks without an N
cable.
• It is not permitted to install a Type B RCD ground fault circuit interrupter switch after a
Type A.
If required, a pre-circuited Type A RCD can be replaced with a Type B.
Fig. 21: RCD installation, types A and B
• RCD ground fault circuit interrupter (Type B) for the generator: According to DIN
EN 50178 classification VDE 0160, "Ausrüstung von Starkstromanlagen mit elektronis-
chen Betriebsmitteln" (Equipping of high-voltage systems with electrical resources), the
following FI circuit interrupters are to be used exclusively.

Installation Preparations 29
On/Off Switch (with Pilot Lamp)
An On/Off switch must be provided to disconnect the system from the power supply. The
On/Off switch should be placed preferably in the equipment room or in the vicinity of the
system cabinets (*1).
This On/Off switch should not be used for routine switching off of the system, but for service
situations.
(*1) In the following cases, it is recommended to position the On/Off switch in the control
room:
• Equipment room located far away from the control room
• if an image system UPS in combination with an on-site emergency power supply (Die-
sel) is used
Emergency Off Switch (with Lock)
To switch off the system in dangerous situations, an emergency on/off switch must be pro-
vided in accordance with the particular national regulations.
The emergency off switch must be secured against unintentional switching back on. An
emergency off switch is recommended in the examination room, control room and equip-
ment room.
Installation of 2-step emergency off switches (2 planes) is recommended. See also (REPO,
Remote Power Off ).
REPO, Remote Power Off
In an emergency situation, it must also be possible to switch off an optionally configured
UPS with the emergency off switch.
In this situation, the REPO contact of the emergency off switch must be connected on-site
to the UPS.
SIEMENS SIRIUS Logic Relay Circuit 0

30 Installation Preparations
Primary Compo- The SIEMENS SIRIUS logic relay circuit is composed of the fol-
nents and Function lowing 3 primary components:
• SITOP power supply, 24 VDC
- Power supply for the SIRIUS safety relay
• SIRIUS safety relay
- Logical component for the ON/OFF and EPO function (EPO
= Emergency Power Off).
This component distinguishes between a switch-off over the
ON/OFF switch or EPO switch or a power failure at the cus-
tomer's location.
Following a power failure or a power interruption, the
breaker automatically switches back on once power is
restored.
• K1 Safety Breaker
- Safety Breaker for Power Line Breakers
DIP Switches (in the It is absolutely necessary for the DIP switches to be in the posi-
SIRIUS safety relay) tions shown in the illustration:
Fig. 22: DIP switch settings
Note: If the DIP switches are not exactly in the positions
shown and are not programmed, the safety circuit will not
function.

Notes on Laying Cables 0
The cables should preferably be laid in cable channels or so that there is no risk of tripping.
Suggestions for Laying Cables 0
Cable duct depth 60 mm.
It may be necessary to provide for greater duct depth for cross-over.
Lay high-voltage cable and power cables separately from control cables and video
cables.(If possible provide shielding measures).
The following must be observed: 0
Avoid formation of cable loops and cable cross-over.
• Lay in separate conduits or closed cable ducts
• Lay in open cable channels, lay cables separately using metal dividers or a similar
device.

Connected load is calculated according to the following formula:
Connected load = √ 3 x rated supply voltage x internal fusing
(*2) depends on the FI type used
Internal Line Resistance 0
The generators are intended for connection to power grids with internal line resistance as
defined in: IEC 60601-2-7 / DIN EN 60601-2-7 / VDE 0750 Sections 2-7 (this norm does
not apply for 380 V).
ULine max. RLine
55 kW
400 0.17
440 0.20
480 0.24
The cross section of the primary power line of the generator must be calculated accord-
ingly.
The minimum cross section according to IEC 60601-1 is 16 mm2
Max. clamping size of the connector terminals in the generator is 35 mm2
NOTE To achieve the full generator power, the measured internal
line resistance may not exceed the following values.
