Proposal for

September, 2023
Background
Landmark Africa, is a popular name and a leading brand in real estate and property
development with a real estate portfolio of over 130,000sqm of mixed-use office, leisure and
residential space for multinational and domestic companies in Nigeria. It has an ecosystem
which includes the Landmark Towers, the Landmark Village, the Landmark Retail Boulevard,
and the Landmark Beach which is located on Water Corporation Road in Oniru, Victoria Island,
Lagos mkii9with the breadth-taking view of the Atlantic Ocean as its border.

The Landmark Towers is a mixed used eleven floor building. It contains commercial office
spaces, boutique hotel, a spa, a leisure building, a restaurant, and retail spaces. The Landmark
Village is a beach front site overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a unique leisure destination for
about 50,000-60,000 visitors weekly at peak season and about half that during normal season.
The Landmark Village also hosts the famous Landmark Event Centre (LEC), Hard Rock Café
Restaurant, Shiro Restaurant, Film house, and the Landmark Retail Boulevard (LRB).
Furthermore, the Landmark Beach is 80,000 m2 of beach with one 1km beach front that spans
from the border of the Landmark Beach past the Landmark Towers and near the end of the
Water Corporation Road. Included in the leisure areas are recreational areas for relaxation and
sports.
The Need

Landmark Africa is looking to provision secured wired/Wireless network and Internet

connectivity through an intranet infrastructure for its entire ecosystem as described in the
introduction above. The infrastructure should include intranet solution that will adopt our
intranet services such as IP Phony system, on premise PMS, Network Attached Storage etc.

For an improved service delivery to both corporate users and the various visitors in their various
capacities, LANDMARK AFRICA is looking to improve on and also secure both the wired and
Wireless Internet connectivity and access via a resilient network/intranet infrastructure for its
entire ecosystem, the following is expected to be deployed:
 A Router / Firewall (Core)
 Gigabit aggregation switch (Core)
 Aggregation switch (Distribution)
 POE switch (Access)
 Access Points (Wifi 6)
 Cloud based LAN Controller
 Captive portal for Internet Access

The proposed solution should provide for dedicated fiber link as redundant link using the
existing Landmark Towers Equipment/Server room as core network aggregation point to
its three divisions: namely:
 Landmark Towers to Landmark Village
 Landmark Towers to Landmark Resort
 Landmark Towers to Landmark Beach
Our Proposal

Our proposal will be based on the predefined deliverables and guidelines shown below:
 Detailed solution
 Cost of the solution
 Phased program of delivery (dates and activities) of the solution
 Proposal for annual maintenance of the solution.

Network Diagram

This project will in no doubt set the stage for the needed change and drive to excellence
needed by LANDMARK AFRICA’S network infrastructure. It will enhance clarity and
resilience of IT services and further enable business growth. The network will hence be
segregated hierarchically into:
1. The network Core layer
The function of the core layer is to provide fast and efficient data transport. To do this, it
utilizes high-speed backbone devices that are designed to switch packets as quickly as
possible and to optimize communication transport within the network. And because the
core is critical for connectivity, core layer devices are expected to provide a high level of
availability and reliability. A fault-tolerant network design ensures that failures do not
have a major impact on network connectivity. The core must be able to accommodate
failures by rerouting traffic and responding quickly to changes in network topology. The
core must provide a high level of redundancy. It will be a dream come true for any network
administrator to have a manageable core layer with devices that are able to implement
scalable protocols and technologies, and also providing alternative paths and load
balancing.
2. Distribution layer
These network layer bridges the core layer and access layer. The main responsibility of the
devices in this layer is to ensure the routing of data to correct devices in the access layer.
The distribution layer handles maximum data traffic as the data packets are pushed
through the core layer to the distribution layer. The distribution switches categorize these
data packets and transmit them to specific workgroups. Strategic routing and data
switching for the network is done by distribution switches.
It is advised that all devices to be used on this layer must have Layer 3 Functional
Compatibility because they directly interact with layer 3 switches, the transmission
compatibility of both layers should match. It is also a must that devices in this network
layer handles link aggregation for quick link recovery in case of link failures. Other
important functions are security (Access Control List, ACL) and Quality of service (QoS)
for prioritizing and forwarding of network traffic.
3. Access Layer
The first layer in the network hierarchical model is the access layer. The main function is
providing for and allow end users to access the network. It also connects user-devices such
as PCs, IP phones, wireless access points, printers, and scanners to the network. The
switches on the layer are called access switches, they can be PoE or non-PoE or a
combination of both. Main function of these switches is to forward traffic between
connected devices and the rest of the LAN
2. Physical Layer
The physical layer I the underlying infrastructure that all other are built on e.g cables,
microwave radios etc, and its function is to transport data using electrical signals, through
mechanical or procedural interfaces.
For this project, the physical layer refers to the laying of fiber cabling, Installation of
Wireless Access points and all associated components

Strategy for Implementation

For a successful implementation of this project, we wish to achieve a minimal service

disruption, and ensure seamless communication, data sharing, and resource
optimization. This implementation strategy outlines our approach to designing,
configuring, and deploying a state-of-the-art networking infrastructure that will empower
your organization to meet its current and future connectivity needs.
The key stages/phases for the project are listed below:
1. Service Stability
2. Service Expansion
3. Service Maintenance

Service Stability
The first task for us is to first ensure network services e.g the internet is stable and always
available for use. Looking at Landmark Africa’s business objective, network downtime is
not an option. Network users, clients, and stakeholders depend on seamless and
uninterrupted access to network services. Service stability is not just a goal; it's our
imperative.
To achieve this, there will be a replacement of a core device and an addition of another
one. The devices are listed in table below. We will achieve the following once the devices
are installed and configured:
 Network/Internet Redundancy and Failover
 Ability to Proactive Monitor and report on service usage
 Network stability will enhance Improved network access and web security
 It will improve business continuity

Service Expansion

The second stage of the project is to build on the achieve stability by expanding network
coverage and network services to more locations. Service expansion is the engine that
drives organization's growth and innovation. So, as we move forward with this project, we
recognize that your network should not only meet current needs but also be a catalyst for
future opportunities and evolution. For this stage of the project, Fiber optic cables will be
laid with the existing datacenter as take off point to the Village, resort beach etc. with a
strong Wi-Fi network delivering a stable, safe and secure internet service to users in those
locations.

The benefits of the service expansion are as follows:
