1. Software Introduction

The total station transmission software was designed to bridge the Total station
and PC to transmit data.
The Total station communicate with PC by a serial cable or read the data from
SD card or Udisk unplugged from the total station, but you should install the cable
driver first, or the total station will not communicate with PC.

Notice: Do not need to install the software, just double click and run it.

2. Data transmission software instructions

2.1 Install Data Transfer Line Driver

1.Double click“ ”or“ ”,stall as

the default setting. This install program needs to be installed as the administrator. At
WIN7 System, please select the icon and right click, then choose to “Run as
administrator”.

2. Select as the following, then click “Next>” button.

3.Click “Next>”.

4.Click “Finish” to complete installing.

5.Connect the data transfer line with the Computer USB Port.

6.The computer will hints as the following pictures, and inform that the serial port is
COM3.

3. Software Usage

3.1 Transmit Data from Total station to PC

Transmitting data is to transmit data of measurement files from total station to PC .

Step:
1.Install battery（at least half of the full electric quantity）, Plug in 6 pin serial port to
total station.

2. Double click the “PC-Port2V1.3.exe”(as shown in picture below) to run it. Do not
need to install the software, just double click and run it as shown below (Notice: The
version will be different)

3. Choose the serial port COM3.（If you have already installed the USB driver, then
you can check the serial port in Device Manager.）

4. Press power button, and run the machine，press [MENU] to enter the interface of
“Menu” and select “3.Fileman” ,then select “3.Export”, then “1.Export to PC” and
select “1.Send (.MEA)”as shown in picture below.

5. Then, you will enter the interface of “Select file (.MEA)”, the file will be default as
the current file, if you want to change the file ,you can press [List]. Select the
measurement file needed with the format “.MEA”, and you may select the format as
“Sunway”.

6. In the interface of the transmission software, click “Receive” to start to receive the
data from total station. (Be careful the order, you must click “Receive” first, then
press [F4] on the instrument).

7. Press [F4] on the instrument to export the data. After exporting, it will display the
total number of the exported data in the “Number” column. (The number displayed
on the instrument must be same as the number exported to the software)

8. After finishing the transmission, the data quantity will be shown on the software
status bar, the quantity should be the same with that in total station.(the number as
the picture below is for example ,and may be not in accordance with that on the
screen )

9. After the transmission software got the data, you can save it Option 1：Click “Save”.

Click “Save” and you will get the dialogue box, name it and select a file format, as
follows:

Option 2：Click “Output” and save it. The software just display the coordinate data.

Go to data outputting interface, select the wanted coordinate format, and click
“Export”, if you want, you can go to “Preview the data”.
Click “Export” and name it, select the file format, and save it.

10. If you marked the “Preview the data”, then you click “save”, the saved file will be
automatically opened, convenient for you to preview.

3.2 Transmit Data from PC to Total Station

Receive data is to transmit the data with specified format to total station by the
transmission software.

Procedure：
1. Connect the PC and Total Station by cable.

2. Turn on instrument.
Press “MENU”-> “Fileman”-> “Import” -> “Import from PC” -> “Receive (.COO)”
to enter the interface of “Import data”. The file name defaults to the current working
file. If you want to change the file, please press [List] to select the file what you want
to import in, as shown in picture below:

3. As to the known coordinate file, you can select the “coordinate file” in the file
transfer Column. Click “Input” to enter the interface of inputting data.

4. Select the format of imported data (in accordance with the data format of the file),
then click “Import”.

5. After inputting data, the data will be displayed, as is shown below, then click
“Return”.

6. Click “Send” and start to send coordinate file.

7. Press [IMPORT] on total station, after it finished, the data number will be shown
on total station screen, which is the same figure as that on transmission software
status bar.

3.3 Copy Data and Paste Data

1. After you inputting or opening the coordinate file, click “copy data”.

2. Open EXCEL，paste the data to EXCEL table. The data sequences: point name, N, E,
Z, code.

3. On the contrary, you can also copy the data in the EXCEL to the transmission
software. The data sequences: point name, N, E, Z, code.

3.4 Create Coordinate File

You can edit a coordinate file manually by transmission software.

Here are the steps:
1.Run the transmission software, click “New” in file transfer, and select the
coordinate file.

2.In the coordinate editing interface, input point name, N, E, Z, code. Ask you to
input all, don’t leave vacancy.

3. Click “Append” when you want to add the next data, you can edit the figure on the
table directly.

4. If you want to delete some data, click “Delete”, and confirm your operation-click “Yes” in
the prompt.

5．You can click “Search” to get quick access to the wanted point, input the point name in the
blank and click search, then you will get it.

6．Finished editing, click “Return” and go back to the main interface, you can upload the data
to PC or total station.

NOTICE:The operation of creating code file is the same with that of coordinate file, the
code file name is “CODELIST.LST” which you can import ,export and create .

4. Transmit data by MiniUSB

Operations as follow:
1. Install battery（at least half of the full electric quantity）,insert the other end of Mini-USB
cable to the total station

2．Turn on the total station, press [MENU] to enter the interface of “Menu” and select
“3.Fileman” ,then select “3.Export”, then “3.Import from Mini” as shown in picture below.
You can copy the wanted file, such as “1.MEA”

3．Open the transmission software , select “Measure file” and click “Open”.

4．A dialog box pops up and you can open the copied data, such as “1.MEA”.

5. After the software received data, you can click “Output”, then save the data.

5. The method to export the data with the format GTS-7

Our transmission software doesn’t support format GTS-7 of Topcon. If want this format,
you can use the third party software (such as Topcon link) which can receive and analysis
format GTS-7 of Topcon.
Operation as follows:
1.Install battery（at least half of the full electric quantity）, Plug in 6 pin serial port to
total station.

2. Press power button, and run the machine，press [MENU] to enter the interface of “Menu”
and select “3.Fileman” ,then select “3.Export”, then “1.Export to PC” and select “1.Send
(.MEA)”as shown in picture below.

3.Then, you will enter the interface of “Select file (.MEA)”, the file will be default as the
current file, if you want to change the file ,you can press [List]. After pressing [Enter], enter
the interface of “Select format”.

4. Then you can select “2.SSS” to enter the interface of exporting.

5.In the software (such as TopconLink), you should select the correct “Port”, “ Baudrate ”
which must be same with it on the instrument, and set the “parity” as “ none” , “Data bits”
as “8”, “Stop bits” as “1” , No data flow control, then you can click “Export” to finish
exporting.
