 Some Examples:
1. If speed increases to 9/5 times, a person reaches his office 30 min. earlier. What is his
usual time to reach the office?
2. A person sees a thief at 80 m, and starts chasing him. Seeing him, the thief starts
running in same direction at 5 m/s. If person runs at 7 m/s, what is the distance
travelled by person before he catches the thief?

 Some Examples:
4. X and Y travel from A to B at 17 km/hr and 19 km/hr resp. A is 72 km away from B. Y
reaches point B first and returns immediately and meets X at C. What is the distance of
point C from B?
5. A travels from home to office. If speed is 50 km/hr, he gets late by 30 min. and if speed
is 60 km/hr, he reaches early by 10 min. What is the distance b/w office and home?
6. A travels from Jammu to Delhi and at same time B travels from Delhi to Jammu. After
passing each other, they complete the journey in 361 hrs. and 289 hrs. respectively.
What is the ratio of their speeds?

8. Two trains start at same time from A and B towards B and A resp. at 36 km/hr and 42
km/hr. When they meet, one train has moved 48 km more than other. What is the
distance b/w A and B?
9. Two trains are travelling from M to N and N to M resp. The distance b/ M & N is 276
km and these trains meet after 12 hrs, if they start at same time. One train is slower
than the other by 14 km/hr. What is the speed of slower train?

km/hr. How many min of stoppage are there per hour?
12. It takes 12 hours to row upstream and 8 hours to row downstream. If the distance is 48
km, what is the speed of river and boat?
13. A person swims in still water at 4.5 km/hr and speed of river is 1.5 km/hr. What is the
