SHAPE
Next up is Shape. Shape is a two-dimensional drawing made up of multiple lines.
They have width and height, but no depth. All of us already have an idea of what
shapes are. Circles, squares, rectangles, triangles and more are all examples of
shapes. But there are also different kinds of shapes. Geometric shapes are the kind of
shapes we know of. The ones I gave before as an example are all geometric shapes.
The next kind of shape are called organic shapes. These kinds of shapes have a natural
and freeform shape. They are not bound by the rigidness of geometric shapes and can
be whatever form it needs to be. The next two kinds of shapes are a bit special. Positive
space are shapes where there are objects. And Negative spaces are shapes between
the objects. When negative space is traced, it will still form a shape. But it will be just
empty space. Meanwhile, if positive space is traced, it will form an object. Now, shapes
also have meanings or impressions they give to the audience. For example, squares
and rectangles give a sense of strength and stability, circles and ellipses represent
continuous movement, etc.
