Bouncing Egg Project

The document presents a science fair project titled 'Bouncing Egg' by third grade students, exploring how vinegar affects an egg's shell. The objective is to understand why an egg can bounce without breaking after being soaked in vinegar, which causes a chemical reaction that makes the egg elastic. The experiment concludes that the egg becomes bouncy due to the removal of its shell by vinegar, while a control egg in water remains unchanged.

1. INTRODUCTION

This work has been prepared by third grade 'A' students for the
subject of Sciences. In order to present the research carried out for the
representation of the assigned topic which is, 'THE BOUNCING EGG'

This project is carried out using the scientific method. The materials we are going to use
In our experiment, we will need: a chicken egg, white vinegar, and a glass of
transparent crystal to observe the process.

2. OBJECTIVE

Know the reasons why an egg goes through a series of steps

can bounce without breaking

4
3. DEVELOPMENT

To carry out the scientific method, we will follow some steps: observation, the
formulation of hypotheses, experimentation, and conclusion, using the method
scientific, to develop our experiment

4. 1 OBSERVATION:

We want to study how vinegar affects the egg? And why in another egg?
Does it have any changes in the water?

4.2HYPOTHESIS:

It is due to the reaction of acetic acid from vinegar and calcium carbonate of the
eggshell

5
4.3EXPERIMENTATION:

We put the egg in a glass and pour vinegar over it until it covers the egg.
we let it rest for 24-48 hours. we take the egg out of the glass and put it in
water and we rub carefully not to break it.

4.4METHOD (MATERIALS AND PROCEDURE)

We will need:

2 eggs.
White vinegar.
2 plastic containers with lid.
Fill the plastic container with enough vinegar to cover.
totally the egg.
Place the egg inside the container.
Close with the lid.
Wait 48 hours.
Take the egg out and watch how it bounces.

Place the other egg only in the water tank within the same 48 hours.
observe the result) .

4.5RESULTS

By leaving the egg in vinegar for 48 hours, we obtained as a result that the vinegar
peel the eggshell and increase the size of the egg having as
as a result, the egg becomes elastic and can bounce like a ball.

6
But the egg that was only in water comes out just like it.
we immerse

7
5. CONCLUSION

This project was interesting as it reveals a little more about the aspect
scientific reason why the egg can bounce like a ball and take a
elastic form since the water containing the vinegar enters the interior of the egg,
