Physical Activity – refers to any bodily movement that requires energy expenditure.
Exercise - is a subset of physical activity that is planned, structured, and repetitive, with the goal
of improving or maintaining physical fitness.
Skill-Related Fitness Components - consists of balance, speed, agility, power, and reaction time
Health-Related Fitness Components - consist of body composition, flexibility, strength, and
endurance.
Body Composition – It is the body’s relative amount of fat to fat-free mass.
 BMI – Body Mass Index
The formula for BMI is weight in kilograms (kg) divided by height in meters squared (m2).

CLASSIFICATIONS
BELOW 18.5 Underweight
18.5-24.9 Normal
25.0 – 29.9 Overweight
30.0 – ABOVE Obese

Cardiovascular endurance – it is the ability of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels to deliver
oxygen in working muscles and tissues, as well as the ability of those muscles and tissues to
utilize the oxygen. Endurance may also refer to the ability of the muscle to repeat work without
fatigue.
 3-Minute Step Test – To measure cardiovascular endurance.
Strength – it is the ability of the muscle to generate force against physical objects.
 Push-up – to measure the strength of upper extremities.
Muscular endurance - Muscular endurance is the ability of a muscle or group of muscles to
repeatedly exert force or perform contractions for an extended period without becoming
fatigued.
 Basic Plank - It is to measure the strength/stability of the core muscles.
Flexibility - It helps improve the range of motion.
 Zipper Test - to measure the flexibility of your shoulder girdle.
 Sit-and-Reach – to test the flexibility of the lower extremities (particularly the trunk)
Classification of Exercise: Aerobic, Anaerobic (Strength and Resistance) and Flexibility.
Circuit Training - It is a form of exercise that involves a series of different exercises or activities
performed in a sequence, typically at various stations, with minimal rest in between.
Dance Exercise – It is a dance fitness or dance workout, a form of physical activity that
combines elements of dance with aerobic exercise to provide a fun and engaging way to
improve fitness, endurance, and overall health.
Warm-up- It is a brief period of preparatory activity that is performed before engaging in more
strenuous physical activity or sports.
Cool down – It refers to a period of three to five minutes of reduced physical activity after
vigorous exercise.
