Course Overview
Bridges are structures which form an integral part of infrastructure
development projects. A bridge is built to span and pass over a river, road, rail
or any other geological hurdle. It is used as a fast way to transit in areas of
high traffic congestion. From road to rail, the function and the area in which a
bridge is constructed decides its design.

The course covers the step-by-step procedure required for the Analysis and
Design of RCC and Steel Composite super structure, Substructure and
Auxiliary components of bridge with detailing. This course deals with the
Course different types of foundations like pile and well according to IRC. It also covers
Objectives the design of cross drainage systems. This course deals with the various
Execution and O&M aspects in detail based on the expertise from L&T.

Course Objectives

• Determine the optimal solution of Bridge structure depending on various

constraints and input parameters
• Analysis and Design of all components of bridges and cross drainage work
with detailing
• Illustrate various Erection methods (Segmental, Balanced cantilever and
Cable stayed bridges etc.) with case studies in detail
