ASSIGNMENT ON SELF-ASSESSMENT TOOL 1

Self-Analysis Using FIRO-B

Objective: To reflect on your interpersonal needs and behaviors using the FIRO-B
(Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior) psychometric test. This self-
analysis will help you gain insights into how your interpersonal preferences influence your
interactions and relationships in both personal and professional settings.

After completing the FIRO-B assessment, you have received your scores for the three
dimensions: Inclusion, Control, and Affection in terms of two contasting types of
behaviours: i) behaviour expressed towards others in terms of these three needs and ii)
behaviour wanted from others. Reflect on the results you have got based on the responses
guven by you to gain a deeper understanding of your interpersonal needs and how they shape
your behavior.

Questions:

1. Inclusion:
o Describe your scores for Inclusion and reflect on your need for Inclusion. How
comfortable are you in social settings? Do you prefer being part of a group or
spending time alone?
o Provide examples from your personal or professional life where your need for
Inclusion has influenced your behavior. How do you typically engage with
others in social or work-related settings?
2. Control:
o Describe your scores for Control and analyze your need for Control. Do you
prefer to take charge in situations, or are you more comfortable when others
lead?
o Share instances where your need for Control has impacted your interactions
with others. How do you respond to authority and decision-making processes?
3. Affection:
o Describe your scores for Affection and reflect on your need for Affection.
How important are close, personal relationships to you? Do you find it easy or
challenging to express your feelings to others?
o Discuss situations where your need for Affection has shaped your
relationships. How do you typically show and receive affection in both
personal and professional contexts?
4. Personal Development Plan:
o Based on your FIRO-B self-analysis, identify your interpersonal strengths
based on your FIRO-B profile and introspect how do these strengths benefit
your relationships and interactions?
o Outline a personal development plan to improve your interpersonal skills.
What specific actions will you take to better meet your interpersonal needs and
improve your interactions with others?
