STD: VII SUBJECT: ENGLISH

I.WRITING SKILL:

1. PARAGRAPH WRITING:

NEED FOR EDUCATION FOR ALL

Education is the key to a happy life. It develops the mind. Memory and knowledge
have made humans smarter than all other animals. It is unfortunate that millions of
people in the world are uneducated. Hence, they are poor and backward. No nation can
prosper unless the people are educated. Hence, education should be spread even in the
remotest corner of our country. Each and every Indian must be educated. Only then we
can bring overall progress in our country. Poverty, the greatest curse, can be uprooted
by education only. Therefore, education for all is essential.

2. SUMMARY WRITING:
SCHOOL LIBRARY

Students are not allowed to speak in the library. Students can borrow books from the
school library. This is convenient because students don't have to buy the books they
want to read. So researching in the library is much easier as there are many books for
students to refer to. School libraries also help students exercise independence and
learn how to do things for themselves. When students start learning by reading books,
they become less dependent on teachers. In short, the school library is the ideal place
for students to go when they want to read or learn.

3. ESSAY WRITING:
IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Introduction:
Physical education is considered vital for people of every age. It is mainly important
for the people within an age range of around twelve to twenty-one. Therefore, several
schools have included physical education as a mandatory subject.

Benefits of Physical Education:

It helps the students to be involved in frequent physical activities to keep themselves
healthy. Having physical education in school is useful for strengthening the students
both physically, emotionally, and mentally. It is crucial for the students to regularly
take part in physical education since it develops active participation in
exercise/activities even in the future. Besides, regular physical activities ensure better
performance of the students in the classroom. Some of the physical activities help in
enhancing the growth of the students’ minds, as well. Many activities, such as golf and
archery, require high concentration and Mathematics skills.

Conclusion:
In short, the benefits of physical education are very important for everyone and we
must all include some time everyday to exercise.

Dear Diary,

There was house warming pooja at our new house. As we were going to shift to our
new house, my parents organised a pooja. I got ready and wore my traditional
outfit. The pooja started at 9.00 am and ended at 11.30 pm. My parents sat for the
pooja. There was a very positive atmosphere around, and we felt a good atmosphere
in the house after the pooja. We also invited a few family friends and relatives to
attend the function. I invited my close friends, Riddhi and Shrishti for the pooja. My
parents had arranged food for the guests who came. The function ended at 4.00 pm
and we came back to our home. Overall, it was a very happy day for me to attend

Visit to Mahatma Gandhi Animal Care Home

Animal Lovers Club was recently invited by the Mahatma Gandhi Animal Care Home for
an opportunity to oversee the working of the organisation.
It is a home for abandoned pets, rescued and injured animals, There were many old
animals as well. It was astounding to see the quality of care the animals are being given.
They have a family-like environment for them. This helps them to heal faster and stay
happy. The animal home has all the facilities ranging from a well- equipped medical
room to a veterinary surgeon. Regular check-ups of those unwell by a team of veterinary
specialists are carried out. The surroundings are animal-friendly as well. They are not
being ruthlessly kept in cages. They have green surroundings with enough space for
them to play and nurture.
Mahatma Gandhi Animal Care Home is doing a mind-blowing job by understanding and
fulfilling the needs of those who can’t speak for themselves. The experience was an
overwhelming one.

The General Manager

New Delhi
Respected Sir

Subject - Complaint regarding irregular and overcrowded local bus service

I am writing this letter to draw your attention to the poor bus service to and from
our locality.
The buses do not seem to follow any time-table. They generally run late. Sometimes
some buses pass much before time. Irregularity is the rule. The number of buses from
our locality for major routes is also insufficient. The passengers have to wait for about
30 minutes if they miss a bus.
Kindly increase the number of buses particularly in the morning and the evening. This
will solve the problem of overcrowding too. Please look into the matter personally and
oblige.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely
Peter

9. SPEECH WRITING:

JUNK FOOD-A POISON FOR CHILDREN

Good morning, respected Principal, Headmistress, teachers and my dear friends.

Today, I am going to speak/express my views on the topic-‘Junk Food- Poison for
Children’.
As you all realise how appealing junk food can be because of the good taste and
convenience. But if we come to know about its harmful consequences, I am sure,
none of us are going to touch junk food ever in life again.
Junk food may appear especially appetising. However, regular consumption of junk
food can be addictive for children and lead to complications like obesity, chronic illness,
low self-esteem and even depression. All this may affect a child’s performance in
school. According to a study conducted, diet has a significant effect on children’s study
habits. Foods with high sugar content deplete energy levels and ability to concentrate
for extended periods of time.
By consuming junk food children take in a high amount of calories, fats,
carbohydrates and added sugars in one fast food meal, with the result that their
bodies become deficient in fibre and other nutrients. Such eating habits increase the
risk of obesity. They are thus at a risk for developing diabetes, high blood pressure
and stroke.
So, friends, it is in our hands to decide what kind of food to choose. If we want to lead
a healthy life we must put an end to the consumption of this poison called junk food.

11. STORY WRITING:

JOHNNY AND THE BARBER

A small boy called Johnny was always eager to show his wit. One morning he decided to
play a trick on the barber. He went to the barber’s shop and sat in the chair against the
mirror. The barber asked, “Yes, Johnny?” Johnny said in a stern voice, “Will you please
shave my beard?” The barber saw through the game. But he politely said, “I will surely
do so, young master.” The barber then put a piece of cloth around Johnny’s shoulders.
He also applied soap on his face. Then he got busy with some other work. Johnny
waited for quite a long time. Waiting with soap all over his face was difficult. He
shouted at the barber, “Why do you keep me waiting?” The barber smiled and coolly
replied, “I’m waiting for the beard to grow.”

Moral-You reap what you sow.

b)His soul was probably embittered because he was a resentful employee who
had a general grievance against everything and especially against the passengers
who sat warmly in his bus while he shivered at the door.

frustrations and unhappiness in life.

came home dripping.

3. Michael was an angel, who had disobeyed God and was sent to earth to learn the
three truths as a punishment.

4. The author's father stepped into the front porch, went straight to the phone in the

and the author's father insisted that Kendrick be roused up. This annoyed
Kendrick very much but the author's father explained to the latter the whole thing
from the beginning.

5. Harris and Jerome quarrelled about what time to wake up the next morning, as
Harris wanted to wake up at 7 and Jerome wanted to wake up at 6 to write

she is depicted as both sympathetic and caring. She worries about Oliver and is
fiercely protective of him. She gives information to Oliver's benefactor about
Fagin's activities in order to prevent him from being kidnapped again, but Fagin's
spies report on her betrayal. Though she never mentions Fagin's accomplice Bill
Sikes by name, Fagin manipulates the information so that it seems as though she
also turned on Sikes, who becomes so angry that he kills her. It is Nancy's murder
that ends up being the downfall of Fagin's gang. The investigation into her murder
leads authorities to the gang's activities.

One day Prince Siddartha was playing in the palace-garden. He saw some
wild swans flying in the sky. He loved these fine birds very much.
Suddenly one of the swans dropped down from the sky and fell at his
feet. There was an arrow in its side. Blood was coming out of its body.
The Prince felt very unhappy. He took the arrow out of the bird gently.
He put some green leaves on the wounded part. The bird slowly opened
its eyes and looked at the prince. Now the prince was very happy.
2
We are all citizens of India. Each of us is a member of one great
community, which includes every Indian. The citizen has both rights and
duties. Some people think only of their rights. They forget their duties on
account of their selfishness. But if we don’t perform our duties, how can
we claim our rights? Our motherland gives much to us, and expects much
from us in return.
3
Whenever a tiger kills an animal, it comes back the next day to ear it. So
Ramdas waited for the tiger for three consecutive days. But it did not
come to eat the bull. Because he knew that a wounded tiger is usually a
dangerous animal. It was likely to attack the nearby villages and destroy
them. So, it was necessary to kill it. So Ramadas did not stop to search
the tiger.
4
During summer the whole of India is very hot. At that time it is very
difficult to do any work. People usually go to the hill station to escape
from the heat. Kodaikanal is a popular summer resort is South India.
Many people say that the climate of England and that of Kodaikanal are
almost the same. You do not have as much heat at Kodaikanal, as you
have at Ooty during the day-time. The temperature at night is also not
so cold as at Ooty. The natural scenery of Kodaikanal is just like that of
England.

So Ramadas did not stop to search
the tiger.

The natural scenery of Kodaikanal is just like that of
England.

On hearing the words of Siddhartha, Devadattha became very angry.
Soon he went to the king’s court and told his uncle Suddhodhana,
Siddhartha has taken away my swan and is not returning it to me. Kindly
let me get my swan back, Meanwhile Siddartha arrived there holding the
swan close to his chest. He Said “render me justice I have saved swan. So
it belongs to me. I will never give it back to Devadattha”.
On hearing the words of both of them Suddhodhana said, “Yes, one
who saves life is superior to one who kills. Violence fails in the end. So in
my opinion, Siddhartha alone has the right over the bird. Siddartha, the
bird belongs to you”.

Once Gandhiji had told “if wealth is lost nothing is lost; if health is lost,
something is lost, but if character is lost, everything is lost.”
The nation and society in which the people are having good
character is always the best and the happiest, Today’s Children are
tommorrow’s citizens. So it is the first and foremost duty of a nation and
its society to cultivate characters in them. Educational institutions like
schools and colleges have been established only for this reason. Such
kind of education is provided here, so that the character of the children
be reformed.
