SUBJECT: SOCIAL SCIENCE (087)
TIME: 3 HOURS Maximum Marks: 80
General Instructions:
(i) This question paper contains 37 questions. All questions are compulsory.
(ii) Question paper is divided into Six Sections – A, B, C, D, E and F.
(iii) Section A – Questions no.1 to 20 are Multiple Choice Type questions. Each question
carries 1 mark.
(iv) Section B – Questions no. 21 to 24 are Very Short Answer Type Questions. Each question
carries 2 marks. Answers to these questions should not exceed 40 words.
(v) Section C - Questions no. 25 to 29 are Short Answer Type Questions. Each question
carries 3 marks. Answers to these questions should not exceed 60 words.
(vi) Section D – Questions no. 30 to 33 are Long Answer Type Questions. Each question
carries 5 marks. Answers to these questions should not exceed 120 words.
(vii) Section E - Questions no. from 34 to 36 are Case-based/ Source-based questions with
three sub-questions. Each question carries 4 marks.
(viii) Section F – Question no. 37 is a Map skill-based question with two parts- 37(a) from
History (2 marks) and 37 (b) from Geography (3 marks). This question carries 5 marks.
(ix) There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been
provided in a few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions has to be attempted.

34. Read the given source and answer the questions that follow :
In December 1931, Gandhiji went to London for the conference, but the negotiations broke
down and he returned disappointed. Back in India, he discovered that the government had
begun a new cycle of repression. Ghaffar Khan and Jawaharlal Nehru were both in jail, the
Congress had been declared illegal, and a series of measures had been imposed to prevent
meetings, demonstrations and boycotts. With great apprehension, Mahatma Gandhi relaunched
the Civil Disobedience Movement. For over a year, the movement continued, but by 1934 it lost
its momentum.
