Activity Proposal for Literacy Week Celebration


September 2-8, 2025

I- Rationale

Literacy is the foundation of lifelong learning. It empowers individuals to think critically, communicate
effectively, and participate actively in society. In line with the Department of Education’s thrust to promote
a culture of reading and literacy among learners, our school will celebrate Literacy Week. The activities
below are designed to cultivate love for reading, enhance comprehension skills, and foster creativity in both
written and spoken forms of expression.

II- Objectives

1. To develop learners’ appreciation for reading and writing as tools for learning and self expression.
2. To enhance students’ reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
3. To encourage learners to participate in engaging literacy activities that promote teamwork and creativity.

III- Theme
“Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa”

September 1, 2025 Reading-Focused Activities


Read-Aloud Sessions – Teachers, parents, or guest readers narrate stories to students.
Silent Reading Marathon DEAR Time – Drop Everything And Read.

September 2, 2025 Writing & Creative Expression


Essay Writing Contest – Topics on the importance of literacy, books, or lifelong learning.

September 3, 2025-Competitions & Quizzes


Spelling Bee – Individual spelling challenges.

September 4, 2025-Creative & Fun Activities


Poster & Slogan Making – On literacy awareness.

September 5, 2025- Community & Outreach


Book Donation Drive – Collect books for school or community libraries.
Parent-Child Reading Corner – Invite families to read together at school.
