Percentages

- Percentage = (Value / Total Value) × 100

- If A is x% more than B, then A = B × (1 + x/100)
- If A is x% less than B, then A = B × (1 - x/100)
- Successive % change = a + b + (ab/100)
- Population growth/decay = P(1 ± r/100)^n

Profit, Loss & Discount

- Profit = SP - CP
- Loss = CP - SP
- Profit% = (Profit/CP) × 100
- Loss% = (Loss/CP) × 100
- SP = CP × (100 + Profit%)/100
- SP = CP × (100 - Loss%)/100
- Discount = MP - SP
- MP = SP × 100 / (100 - Discount%)
- Two successive discounts d1 & d2 → Net discount = d1 + d2 – (d1×d2/100)

Simple & Compound Interest

- SI = (P × R × T)/100
- CI = P(1 + R/100)^T – P
- Amount in CI = P(1 + R/100)^T
- For different rates: A = P(1+R1/100)(1+R2/100)...
- Difference between CI & SI (2 yrs) = P(R/100)^2
- Present Value = Future Value / (1 + r)^t

Ratio & Proportion

- a : b = a/b
- If a/b = c/d → ad = bc
- If a : b = m : n, then a/(a+b) = m/(m+n)
- If a:b = c:d then (a+c):(b+d) is componendo & dividendo rule
- In work, time is inversely proportional to men (for same work)

Mixtures & Alligation

- Mean Value = (Sum of Quantities × Value)/Total Quantity
- Alligation Rule: (Cheaper Qty / Dearer Qty) = (Dearer Price – Mean Price)/(Mean Price – Cheaper
Price)
- Replacement: Quantity left after n ops = Initial × (1 – replaced/total)^n

Time, Speed & Distance

- Speed = Distance/Time
- Time = Distance/Speed
- If speed changes from x to y → ratio of times = y:x
- Average Speed = (2xy)/(x+y) for equal distances
- Relative Speed (same direction) = |x–y|
- Relative Speed (opposite direction) = x+y
- Boats: Downstream speed = u+v, Upstream = u–v
- Circular track meeting problems formulae

Time & Work

- Work = Rate × Time
- If A finishes in x days → 1 day work = 1/x
- If A in x, B in y → Together = (xy)/(x+y) days
- If A is x times as good as B → Time(A) = Time(B)/x
- Pipes & Cisterns: Filling = +, Emptying = – in work rates

Averages
- Average = (Sum of observations)/(Number of observations)
- Weighted Avg = (Σwi·xi)/(Σwi)
- If one item replaced → New Avg = Old Avg + (New – Old)/n
- Average speed = Total Distance / Total Time

Numbers (Basic for Arithmetic)

- LCM × HCF = Product of numbers
- Divisibility rules for 2,3,5,7,9,11 etc.
- Sum of n natural numbers = n(n+1)/2
- Sum of squares = n(n+1)(2n+1)/6
- Sum of cubes = (n(n+1)/2)^2
