1. Find the square root of 1764 by prime factorization method.
2. Write the cube of 13.
3. If 5 workers can finish a work in 12 days, in how many days will 10 workers finish the same work?
4. A pen is bought for ■40 and sold for ■50. Find the gain percent.
5. Expand: (a+b)^2.
6. Factorize: x^2 + 7x + 12.

Section B (2 marks each)


1. Find the least number which must be subtracted from 18265 to make it a perfect square.
2. Find the cube root of 9261.
3. If 12 pencils cost ■60, how much will 15 pencils cost?
4. A shopkeeper sold an article at a loss of 12%. If its cost price was ■640, find the selling price.
5. Expand: (x+3)(x+7).
6. Factorize: a^2 - 16.

Section C (3 marks each)


1. The area of a square field is 5184 m². Find the length of the side of the square.
2. Evaluate: √144 × √196.
3. If 8 men can dig a well in 20 days, how many days will 5 men take to dig the same well?
4. A cycle is bought for ■1,200 and sold for ■1,440. Find the profit and profit percent.
5. Verify: (x+y)^2 = x^2 + y^2 + 2xy.
6. Factorize: x^2 + 10x + 25.

1. The product of two consecutive positive integers is 506. Find the integers.
2. Find the cube root of 13824 by factorization method.
3. A contractor employs 90 men to finish a work in 40 days. If he employs 120 men, in how many
days will the work be finished?
4. A shopkeeper bought an article for ■6,400 and sold it at a gain of 15%. Find the selling price. If
he had sold it at a loss of 10%, what would have been the selling price?
5. Expand: (2x+3y)^2.
6. Factorize completely: x^3 - 27.
