The weight of the Light
You must open your eyes and see,
Life unfolds with no guarantee.
The older you grow, the more you learn,
That joy is fleeting, and pain will return.
No matter the tales you once believed,
This world is harsh, and souls are grieved.
Suffering lingers, voids remain,
And none escape its endless chain.
Listen well, you think you're right,
Fighting for peace with all your might.
But light and shadow walk as one,
Bound together, never undone.
For victors rise, but none stand tall,
Each triumph comes with someone's fall.
In love we trust, yet wars ignite,
As hatred blooms in love's own light.
So tell me now, what sense is there,
In chasing dreams that lead nowhere?
Do we repeat this endless fight,
Seeking peace with swords held tight?
The faces change, the voices fade,
Yet still, the same old game is played.
Man runs toward a fleeting prize,
Hoping to master fate’s disguise.
But truth is cold, a bitter rain,
Nothing lasts, and all is vain.
The past is dust, the future blind,
Yet still we search, yet still we find.
A moment’s light, then endless night,
A fire burned, then lost to sight.
So should we bow, accept our fate,
Watch the world decay in state?
Or dare to hope, despite the cost,
Though every light still casts a loss?
For even if the night is long,
And silence drowns the final song,
Some still believe, though torn apart,
That hope still beats within the heart.
