WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY?

Thanks for the introduction, Joshua. Hi, everyone!”. “Let’s start with something a little
fun and creative. But before I tell you what we’ll be doing, I want you to look at the
slide in front of you.
o Share slide: have the other students describe the picture on the slide, then
proceed to the exercise. Tell them: “imagine you just won 25 million euros!”.

o Now, let’s take a few seconds together: what kinds of things would you spend
the money on, X? Maybe travelling? A house, for example? – Brainstorm for a
few seconds.

o Fantastic, now I want you all to take a moment to think about 4 things that you
would do with the 25 million euros. You can write them down, type them in a
document, or just think about them, keep them in your head. Up to you!

o When the 3 minutes have passed, GROUP TASK IN BREAKOUT ROOMS

(7 to 10 minutes): Now I’m going to divide you in small groups. In your group,
take turns sharing your ideas. Then, work together to choose what three things
would be the best to spend the money on. Spend some time negotiating! Try to
convince others or ask questions.

o Go through the different breakout rooms to see that everything is going

smoothly. Go to Carme’s breakout room first and explain who’s there with her.
ANNOUNCE WE ARE GOING BACK INTO THE MAIN CLASSROOM.
“Time’s up! We are now going back to the main classroom. We are back in the
main room”.

o FEEDBACK AND SHARING (5 minutes): Bring students back to the main

room and ask one person from each group to explain what 3 things they
agreed would be best to do with the money: “Welcome back, everyone! Let’s
hear what each group decided to spend the 25 million dollars on! Was it hard to
agree? Okay, X, what did you decide to do with the money?”. // if extra time: did
anyone have some funny or surprising suggestions?

o FINISH MY PART OF THE LESSON: “Alright, thank you, everyone! It’s

been great to hear all of your ideas! You made some tough decisions, but you all
worked wonderfully together. Now I’ll hand you over to my colleague Shan,
who’s got the next part of the lesson lined up for you!”
