QT MODELER
STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED
Open QT Modeler and load the .las or .laz file by
clicking on Import → Import Model data → Select the
required .las files.
After adding the files assign coordinate system to the
models by selecting the required Coordinate system.
Select Edit → Coordinate system (UTM) → select
required zone (eg. India will come between 41 – 47 N)
→ Ok
For removing noise First Select the required area by
clicking on Select Polygon icon → Select the required
area to be removed → Cut icon.
For Overlaying Satellite Imagery click on
Import WMS Imagery → Select (eg.
Virtual Earth) → current data → Retrive →
Accept.
The required Point clouds can be merged into single
file by clicking on Edit → Merge Model → Select the
required files → Merge.
For creating a Digital Surface Model (DSM) Edit →
Convert model type → New Format : QTT Gridded
Surface → Convert.
DEM can be created by clicking on Analysis → AGL
Analyst → Create bare earth model → Go!. This tool
can also be used for extracting the required Ground
and Non-ground features by adjusting the levels in the
visualize option.
Classification of data can be done by using
“Classification and Extraction tool”,DTM and DSM can
also be created with the classification and extraction
option.
Right Click on the classified file → Export to → LAS
(RGB – Current) → set Coordinate system as current
→ Ok. This will be used to save the classified file.
To sync QT Modeler with Google earth click on “G”
key. This will sync the data in the QT Modeler to
google earth. Which will be used for real time view
and monitoring.
Click on “M” key + Left click to place the markers in
the required areas and “K” key + Left click will be used
to move the markers.
The markers can also be exported to google earth by
clicking on Marker → Export marker → All to KMZ or
KML, Shapefile. Clicking on the KML file will take you
to the desired coordinates in the google earth.
Travel Route Analysis can be done by clicking on
Markers → Define mission route → Add the required
points to the route → Travel route analysis. This will
create a vector line file. The route can also be viewed
in the google earth by Right click the route name →
Export route → export to KML.
This travel route analysis can be used to see a fly
through video of the route and this can also be
exported to a Movie by clicking on Trat Movie icon.
Click on Analysis → Filtering. To filter the data based
on their classification and reflectance ranges. This can
be used to filtering Ground and Non-Ground features.
Analysis → Generate Grid statistics can be used for
preparing Slope, Elevation, Density and Intensity
maps.
Cloud points Appearance tool is used for changing the
point cloud sizes which will be used for getting a
detailed view.
Analysis tools is used for performing different
operations like Change detection, Slope, Shadow map
etc.,
Flood analysis can also be done using QT Modeler.
Click on Analysis → Rain drop → Place the rain drops
in the required areas or in random areas based on
requirements → press D + Left Click to place the rain
drop in different areas. After placing the rain drops
click on Flood analysis icon. This will provide the
various ranges of water level based the period.
All existing and temporary data can be saved in the
workspace by clicking on create workspace icon.
Mensuration tool will be used for measuring the
distance, height and boundary can also be drawn.
These lines can be exported as shapefiles and can be
opened in GIS software.
If we need to remove only a particular selected
feature without disturbing the other features then
select the required area by using Select polygon Z →
Enable edit toolbar.
After selecting the required area right click on crop
visible option and then select the required area to be
removed by using the select polygon option and click
on cut visible option in the edit toolbar.
