This pattern doesn’t contain basic crocheting lessons.
Level of difficulty: intermediate.
You need to have basic crocheting skills to use this pattern. The
pattern is my authoring.

Materials and tools:


1. Yarn: “Alize Cotton Gold” -243 (1 skein)
“Alize Cotton Gold”-67 (1 skein)
“Alize Softy” – 55 (just a little for the eyes)
* You can crochet from any yarn (yarn consumption depends on your crocheting density),
select the size of the hook and eyes individually for your yarn.

2. Any shiny thread (I use pink floss)


3. Half beads size 5-6 mm. (2 pcs)
4. Toy filler
5. Long needle
6. Glue
7. Scissors
8. Crochet hook size 2
9. You can use ordinary wire or chenille
wire for legs (I don't use).

Abbreviations:
AR* – amigurumi ring
r. - row
l. – loop
fl. l. – floating loop
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
inc. – increase (crochet 2 single crochet in one loop)
dec. – decrease (crochet 2 single crochet together)
HDC. – half double crochet
DC. – double crochet
TR. – treble crochet
DTR. – double treble crochet
1DC, 2DC, 3DC... and so on – one double crochet in 1 loop, 2 double crochets in 1 l., 3 double
crochets in 1 l. and so on. Don't crochet them together
sl st – slip stitch
t. ch. – turning chain

* If you cannot make AR, then make 2 ch and crochet in the second loop from the hook – it’ll
be AR
Size of the toy: 14-15 cm (5.5-5.9 in) on the shell.
* Size is valid when using recommended yarn and crochet hook. I crochet in X.

Tips:
• Work in spiral, don’t join with a slip stitch in the end of the row and don’t turn, unless
otherwise stated.
• There are no floating loops in this pattern.
• Use marker or contrast color thread in the beginning of the row for marking the first
loop of each new row.
• Stuff the toy with filler more tight, so that it doesn’t lose shape.

CRAB crocheting process:

CLAWS (2 details):

Work with red yarn. Stuff tight only the claws


themselves as you go, the rest part of paws stuff not so
tight, and don’t stuff the last 0,5-1 cm (0.2-0.4 in) of the
work.
Don’t forget to mark rows. Cut the thread and leave 10
cm (3.9 in) long end on the first half of the claw, it will
be needed for sewing the holes between claws, don’t
cut the thread on the second half of the claw.

LEGS (8 details):

Stuff loose as you go, don’t stuff the last 0,5-1 cm (0.2-
0.4 in) of the work.

You can insert ordinary wire or chenille wire (I don't
use).
Tighten the 8sc opening, cut and fasten off the thread.
Bend 2 cm (0.8 in) of the legs down.

SHELL:

Top:
Work with red thread. Don’t forget to mark

Cut and fasten off the thread.

Crochet the top and the bottom parts of the shell together making 98 sc with red thread.
Stuff as you go. After finishing, make one more round of 98 sc. Cut and fasten off the thread.

WHITES OF THE EYES (2 details):


Use white plush yarn. Stuff as you go.
Don’t forget to mark rows.

EYE SOCKETS (2 details):


Work with red thread, don’t forget to mark rows.

Leave thread for sewing them to the shell.
Insert whites of the eyes into the eye sockets and sew them in round to the eye sockets with
red thread.

ASSEMBLY:

1. Sew the legs and the claws on the sides of the shell, at the bottom of the toy
(approximately 8th-9th rows).

2. Sew the eyes on the shell, backing 12 rows from the top (from the beginning of red shell
crocheting), at 2 cm (0.8 in) apart, glue black half beads on the whites of the eyes.
Embroider smile with thin light-pink thread (split into 2 parts “Alize Cotton Gold”-67).

3. Embroider small stitches with shiny thread on the top of the shell and on the top of the
claws, in any arrangement.

4. Bend 2 cm (0.8 in) of the 8 legs, so that the


crab can stand.
