Cross Hatch Test for testing of adhesion
The cross hatch test is a method to determine a coating adhesion or strength of the bond between substrate and coating, or between different coating layers or the cohesive strength of some substrates. Having selected the appropriate cutter spacing dependant on coating thickness, make a cut of approximately 20 - 30mm long ensuring that enough force is used to cut all the way down to the substrate. Make a similar length cut at a 90 angle with the first cut - again, ensure that the cut is all the way down to the substrate. Brush the coating slightly with a soft brush or tissue to remove any detached flakes or ribbons of coating, then check the resulting cross-hatch pattern according to the Classification of Adhesion Test Results - as described in ISO or ASTM standards. An adhesive tape, in accordance with ISO 2409 or ASTM D3359 can also be used prior to checking the result. Please refer to the appropriate standard. The round cutting knife of the CC1000 has eight cutting sides that can be changed easily. The selfadjusting knife-holder of the CC1000 ensures equal pressure on the cutting knife. Set CC2000

Set CC3000
The depth of cut is adjustable, so is the blade. The blade holder is kept at a set distance from the surface with the aid of two wheels (ball bearings). Reproducible test results guaranteed. The set consists: ergonomic holder with ultra hardened steel cutting tool, a brush, an illuminated loupe and roll of adhesive tape. The blade differs from set to set.
