PREPOSITION
A preposition is a word that
connects a noun or pronoun to
another word in the sentence.
Prepositions are useful
• Prepositions show where things are. They help
in building sentences to make them longer and
more descriptive. Some examples are: Over,
Under, Below, On, and Around. There are many
more prepositions beside the ones I listed
Prepositions are interesting
• Prepositions make a boring sentence different.
It can turn “The car drove fast.” into “The car
drove fast on top of the bridge.”
• Prepositions help describe what is happening in
a sentence. They show where things go, instead
of having readers guess what is happening.
Prepositions and grammar
• Prepositions have a lot of rules when you use
them. They must be between a noun or pronoun
and another word that it links to. Also,
prepositions can’t be used to end a sentence. You
also can’t use prepositions when they aren’t
needed because the sentence is already clear and
understandable.
