DID YOU HAVE A HARD TIME IDENTIFYING THE

WHY?
WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY-BASED
ART?
TECHNOLOGY – BASED ARTS
TBA is essentially computer-generated or
manipulated. Today’s computer artists employ the ever-
expanding powers of image manipulation programs and
applications to create their works which can appear in an
entire range of media – whether as a physical output or a
virtual experience.
TECHNOLOGY – BASED ARTS
TBA includes …
1. Computer/Digital Arts
2. Mobile Phone Art
3. Computer – Generated Images
4. Digital Photography
5. Video Games/Digital Painting/Imaging Videos
COMPUTER/DIGITAL ARTS

MOBILE PHONE ART
-is a form of modern art that emerged due to
the available technology on mobile phones
with built-in cameras that could capture and
store images
- These could be personal photographs and
videos that you can manipulate with a myriad
special effects, both visual as well as sound
and music using your own mobile devices
-They could also be school projects or reports
that require you to combine images,
incorporate text, even include simple
animation
COMPUTER
GENERATED IMAGES
- are those that are created from scratch
using drawing or illustration software on
desktop computers, laptops, and tablets.
These can then be modified and
manipulated as well, using image editing
programs for these devices.
COMPUTER PROGRAMS AND
APPLICATIONS:
1. Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
2. Paint.net
3. Inkscape
4. Xara Extreme
5. Artweaver
6. Draw Plus

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
-makes use of devices that automatically
set and adjust the needed elements
(shutter opening, shutter speed, flash
lighting, zoom in/out, etc.) to ensure a
good quality image

VIDEO GAMES/ DIGITAL PAINTING / VIDEO
TECHNOLOGY/IMAGING VIDEOS
Video games/gaming
- Are not only played and enjoyed by countless gamers
all over the world, they can also be developed by
amateurs on a personal device using available
software.
- They now also involve extremely complex and
realistic graphics and animation techniques that may
be considered a form of modern art.
Video games/gaming
- Can be educational games, mind twisters, building
and construction games, strategy war, science and
fiction, mythical worlds
Programs we can use in video games include:

Digital painting makes use of virtual tools on a
computer to simulate the canvas, brushes, paints,
etc. used in traditional painting. The result is a work
of modern art created by “robot devices”
controlled by a computer, or else entirely
virtual on an electronic device.
It does employ computer software that drives a
type of robot device (such as a plotter) or an office
machine (such as a printer) that takes the place of
the artist’s hand
Video Technology-
(For social media purposes) raw video clips that can
be enhanced and modified with a myriad of effects
depending on the particular video application you
have installed in your device

Imaging Videos- (For Medical/scientific purposes) the
application of video technology to serve not only
entertainment purposes, but even scientific, educational,
and medical needs. We see this in the form of CT scans,
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and even the
ultrasound tests/sonograms
-create and record visual images of a patient’s internal
anatomy-
-treating diseases and injuries-
-translate sounds bouncing off physical objects into
images that can be studied-
