OVERVIEW OF THE CASE
Project management is a process utilized by a company to plan and
manage the resources needed to complete a specific project. This can
be a one-time project or a continuous activity that involves managing
various resources and personnel.
In this presentation, we will introduce the importance of Data
Analytics in project management. As a project management
consultant team, we want to help our company be more efficient in
managing project by implementing data analysis in projects to develop
their profitability. We will present the opportunity, benefits and
method of implementing DA in project management.

COMPANY
OVERVIEW
The imagined scenario:
We are consultants in project managements in a
beauty company that sells an organic beauty
product.
Since the launch of the product, sales are stagnant,
so the management asks us to make a study to know
why the sales do not generate any more profits. The
objective being to increase the net income.
Typically, the PM's responsibilities are split
across five phases, which are known as the
project life cycle. initiating, planning, PROJECT
executing, monitoring/controlling and closing
MANAGEM
Every project has a plan that outlines the steps

foundation for everything that's going to happen
from start to finish.

E
IDENTIFICAT
ION OF THE
PROBLEM
The problem was easily detected visually
sales slightly decreased from 23M to
approximately 10M and remain stagnant
for a while this worried the manager, the
thing that left us as a consulting team to
dig deep and understand the causes and
suggest an appropriate solutions.
ROOT CAUSES
To understand the situation more easily, we absolutely had to do our
research and focus on the root causes, we will be helping our insights by the Ishikawa diagram:
Once we have agreed with most departments that the root cause is our
poor understanding about data clients and potential clients , we
still can’t understand the real needs then as long as we have all the
arguments it is imperative to take a decision and make an analytical
research that will allow us to detect the defiance and the leak.
Data analytics as a solution:
A company can also use data analytics to make better business
decisions and help analyze customer trends and satisfaction, which
can lead to new and better products and services.
DATA ANALYTICS AS A
PERTINENT SOLUTION
After doing our research we discovered that :
The priority of the company is to satisfy the customers. But we have noticed that there have been multiple
complaints in recent months which could explain the stagnation of sales.
We have 2 alternatives :
The first is to know if we will propose new products
The second is adding DA to better know the customers' needs to improve the products

Planification & Delivery: DA helps organizations redefine their planning
processes and rules to create new strategies and procedures that can be
used in innovative and creative ways.
Quality management: DA can be used to collect and analyze data related
to quality management, and it can develop new frameworks and
procedures for quality control.
Risks management: DA is a tool that enables organizations to collect and
analyze data related to various issues. It can help identify and manage
risk.
Ressources management: Developing a DA method is an important step
in the development of new procedures for managing resources.
Environment: Big Data collected on team members and their
environment can help form better teams. It can also inform the training
strategies of the team members.
HOW DOES DATA IMPROVE
PROJECT MANAGEMENT ?
Assessing project risks: we’ve all been there; you start off with A lot
of enthusiasm and then things go wrong. It’s like starting A new
project and everything goes wrong. You do your research, plan, and
gather A good team. Unfortunately, things fall apart once the project
starts.
Forecasting the date of completion: project managers can use data
analysis to identify potential issues that could affect the quality,
schedule, and budget of their work. It can help them make informed
decisions and improve their efficiency.
Measuring success: before, it was very difficult to measure the success of projects
using voluntary data collected by customers. With the advent of data mining, businesses
can now collect and analyze customer data to improve their operations.
Data mistakes to avoid:
- Before collecting data, a project manager should first ask themselves if the data is useful
to the team.
- They should then learn how to use the data efficiently.
- A good project manager will be able to clearly communicate with their team, monitor
their progress, and ensure that they're on track to meet their deadlines.
- Although data analysts can typically handle most of the data analysis, team members still
need to collaborate in order to get the most from it.
DATA MISTAKES TO AVOID
When it comes to collecting data, the first thing a project manager should do is ask themselves if the data is
relevant to the project. This will help them determine if the data is valuable to the team.
Once a company has collected the relevant data, it needs to learn how to use that data quickly to gain a
competitive advantage.
A good project manager should be able to communicate clearly with their team and monitor their progress to
ensure that they are on track to deliver on time. This can be done through the agile method seeing as It's also
beneficial for project managers as it allows them to communicate with their clients more effectively.
Although trained data analysts may be able to handle most of the data, team members should still collaborate
and use each other to get the most out of it, as working together can help them spot patterns and anomalies.
DETERMINE THE DATA

Determine the data requirement is the first step that consist in:
Established the process used to identify, prioritize, preciely formulate, and
validate the data required to reach business objectives
Grouped Data by separating data in category

COLLECTING THE DATA
Data collection consists in gathering and measuring information through
several sources, channels and methods. This allows a person or a company to
answer relevant questions, to evaluate results and to better anticipate for future.
Surveys, interviews, focus group
To collect data, we can use these Web and analytics tools, website traffic, server
methods: activity and other relevant sources
Big Data, Artificial Intelligence
We will use both, qualitative (more descriptive) and quantitative (numbers,
percentages) data
ORGANIZATION &
ANALYZING
Once the data are collected:
It must be organized in order to be analyzed
This step is a crucial step because it will help us to
have clear answer to our questions
This step can be done with the help of a suitable
software or spreadsheet that would be able to analyzed
the data
DATA
CLEANING
In data processing, garbage is only as good as the
data it collects. This process involves identifying and
removing non-important information from the
database.
Basically, the process involves removing duplicates,
invalidating, and saturating data sets in order to
ensure that the highest quality of data is extracted.
This procedure is carried out in various stages(data
cleaning cycle) to minimize the risk of data loss and
improve the reliability of data.

CONCLUSION
Implementing Data Analytics will help us improve our project management and have
positive externalities for the company:
DA will allow us to collect maximum information on our company and its
environment to achieve our objectives (increase sales)
DA will provide to us a better understanding of our customers' needs and will help
us increase our revenue
With DA we will be able to forecast the market news and customers reaction based
on the past event
