 APA (American Psychological Association)

→- This style is most commonly


used to cite sources within the
social sciences.
A in-text citation, contains only sources you have
cited in-text in your assignment.

A bibliography, is a list of all the sources


you used to generate your ideas about
the topic.
FORMAT: last name of the author, the year of publication, and the
page number the quote / information is found in, all
enclosed in parentheses.

“There is no one pedagogy that will be


effective for all kinds of students,” (Tan,
2013, p. 10).
For references with 2 authors:

“There is no one pedagogy that will be effective for all kinds of


students,” (Tan & Johnson, 2013, p. 10).
INSTRUCTIONS:

If a work has two authors, separate their names with an


ampersand (&) in a parenthetical citation.
For references with more than 3 authors:

“There is no one pedagogy that will be effective for all kinds of


students,” (Tan et al., 2013, p. 10).
INSTRUCTIONS:

The in-text citation for works with three or more authors is


shortened to the first author's name followed by et al. and the
year

FORMAT: author, year of publication, title of the work, and


the publisher.
