The Module Aims
Understanding the key concepts in the world of Business & Management.
Introduction to the major functional areas of running a company,
which will help you to start your own business.
The course has important implications to develop your Teamwork,
Presentations & Report writing skills.
The Key Concepts Module “BADM 101” in the first semester is a
prerequisite to the Further Concepts in Business & Management
“BADM 123”Module in the second semester.

Course Format & Moodle
The course will be delivered through weekly on campus lectures with the mediation of
power points (2 Lectures).
One Lecture will be assigned for the Module topics and the other one will be an
application on the topics; as a preparation for the Project.
The course content (professor’s slides, cases, readings, assignments, etc.) is
available on Moodle, www.ngu.edu.eg
Each student should be able to access his/her Moodle using their
username/password.
You must have An Active NGU Email.

How’s it going to work?
First you need to formulate groups(4-5 students per group).
You are going to be guided through this module to learn about
a range of topics including: Business Strategy,
Entrepreneurship, Management and Leadership, Operations
Management, Marketing, Structuring organizations.
Then you should develop your own start-up business and
present it on campus.

The purpose of the written work is to develop your writing & analytical
skills.
The most important point of any presented work should be based on your
point of view & understanding of the discussed issues.
Copy and Paste are not allowed; whether from the Internet or from your
friends.

regularly during the lectures.
2. Discipline and Good behavior are graded- Respect is a must.

Attendance & Punctuality
All students should accept regular punctual class attendance.
If class attendance in any course is less than 75%, the student will get a
grade of F on that course; i.e.: The absence rate shouldn’t exceed 25%.
In the event of unavoidable absence, students are expected to inform the
Module Leader in advance.
Exceptions may be given with permission from the instructor teaching that
course and approval of the Dean & the Registrar; if you submit an official
document justifying your absence; Which should be for a good reason
(Sickness, athletic, emergency,..).

Attendance & Punctuality(Cont’)
The student must provide an explanation to the Module Leader and
supply supporting evidence as required by the Module Leader no later
than seven calendar days from the stated absence.
If absences are caused by proven illness, a physician's certification
must be presented to the University's Clinic for endorsement and the
Dean for final approval.
The student must also make arrangements with the Module Leader to
make up missed work. In all cases, it will be the student's responsibility
to make up for work missed.

business.
A3-Demonstrate knowledge of a range of business
terminology and introductory concepts.

By the end of the module, students should be able to:
B1-Create solutions to customer’s problems as a starting
step in their business project.
B2- Analyse the five business environments to develop
their own business idea.
B3- Interpret the different terminologies required to be
competitive such as: competitive advantage,

By the end of the module, students should be able to:

tutor.

D2-Build arguments through brainstorming to creative
business ideas and functions.
D3- Organize teamwork and learn how to interact in an

Code of Conduct: COMMUNICATION POLICY
The communication channel used is the email, using the NGU official email
addresses.
Module leaders are expected to respond within 3 – 5 business days.
Business days exclude: weekends, official holidays, and research days.
FINAL EXAMS/ PROJECT SUBMISSIONS
Prior to the final exam date or the final project submission deadline, the Silent Days policy
will be implemented where Module Leaders will not respond to any last minute inquiries
sent via email during the last 72 hours prior of the finals.
