TPACK
Technology
Pedagogical and
Content Knowledge
What is TPACK and How does it work?
TPACK - is a technology integration
framework that identifies three types of
knowledge instructors need to combine for
successful edtech integration-
TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE,
CONTENT KNOWLEDGE, and
PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE (A.K.A
What is TPACK and How does it work?
The TPACK is a framework that teachers can
use to help them identify knowledge they
might need to focus on to be able to teach
effectively with technology.
It build upon the work of SHULMA’s idea of
Pedagogical Content Knowledge.
What is TPACK and How does it work?
The TPACK framework was
continued by PUNYA MISHRA
AND MATTHEW J. KOEHLER of
Michigan State University in
2006.
The three primary of knowledge
• Content Knowledge
• Pedagogical Knowledge
• Technological Knowledge
CK - CONTENT KNOWLEDGE
CK is content knowledge. It is the “What
teachers KNOW”,- knowledge about the
subject matter as given by the curriculum.
Ex. Knowledge about Science, Math,
History and etc.
PK - PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
PK is pedagogical knowledge. It is the “HOW THEY
TEACH”,- concerns your knowledge about teaching
practices, strategies, learning environment, and other
teaching-learning situations.
Ex. Knowledge about how to use teaching
strategies like problem-based learning, inquiry-based
instruction and differentiated instruction.
TK - TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
TK - TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE. It is the
”How Technology is used” concerns your
knowledge about the skills in manipulating and using
technological media in teaching.
Ex. Knowledge how to use electronic tools like:
Laptop, LCD projectors, Wiki, Blogs, Google Class
There are three knowledge that will be formed when the
three knowledge intersect:
TCK-Technological Content Knowledge
PCK- Pedagogical Content Knowledge
TPK- TECHNOLOGICAL-CONTENT KNOWLEDGE
TCK - TECHNOLOGICAL-CONTENT
KNOWLEDGE
TCK- concerns your knowledge about the
impact of technological perspectives in
understanding and gathering learning content
for your subject area.
This framework is describes that the knowledge
required by a teacher to represent materials
using technology
PCK - PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT KNOWLEDGE
PCK - concerns your knowledge about
what teaching methods and strategies
should be used to enhance the delivery of
the learning content.
TPK – TECHNOLOGICAL PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
TPK – concerns your knowledge abut how you utilize
technological advancement as you incorporate them into
your teaching practices to improve the development of
your lesson.
For example students will perform an activity and with
the help of equipment the result output or performance
of the students will be outstanding.
Tech-PACK
At the center of the intersection of the three knowledge will be
called TPACK. Here can be seen it is necessary to choose the
most appropriate strategy for teaching a subject matter. The
strategy is appropriate to the topic of the lesson and the
abilities and interest of the students. Students are even more
excited when the teacher also considers the use of technology
in carrying out students tasks. When the TPACK framework is
followed teaching will definitely be effective and interesting .
In this knowledge the learners are independent to utilize the
different statistical software which is helpful to them.
Another important
model in the integration
of technology in
instructions is SAMR.
SAMR is a model designed to
help educators infuse
technology into teaching and
learning. (Developed by Dr.
Ruben Puentedura)
S stands for SUBSTITUTION.
It is literally using technology
as an alternate for the regular

A stands for

technology tool.
M means

level, technology is used

R means

represent the idea of
creating something from
the regular item.
Blooms’ Digital Taxonomy is a
known educationist who provided
the cognitive taxonomy which has
greatly been used in education. His
students, Anderson and Krathwohl
made some revisions.
