PROBLEM STATEMENT
As the world is technologically advancing, the desire to reduce
human efforts is at its peak. Same is the case with the field of
shopping. Earlier, shopkeepers used to manually arrange the
products chosen by customers and would do the bill calculation
manually, too. But with the birth of huge supermarkets and
shopping malls, manually arranging and handing of products to
customers as well as manual bill calculation seemed impractical and
impossible. Thus, Barcode based shopping came into existence. But
it too, has its own limitations and there is scope for development. In
the era of “smart”, we need to up the game for shopping as well
and switch to smart shopping. This project shall result into a new
shopping experience and shall reduce the efforts made and the time
spent by an average shopper to a considerable extent. This project
might also felicitate the emergence of an automated shopping
system. It gives number of products in trolley and the total cost of
the products on the spot.In addition to these we are adding
humming following concept for the smart trolley to follow the
human being while shopping.
INTRODUCTION
The dynamic growth and the advent of new and exciting
development in the field of IoT (Internet of Things) have paved
the way for unique ways of using technology in a lot of fields.
Wireless communication combined with radio and frequency
sensing gives a whole new dimension to the way people interact
with devices and use them in their daily routine. Nowadays,
supermarkets and shopping complexes have become so
commonplace, that they are no longer a luxury afforded only by
urban cities. They have expanded beyond the domain of big
cities and ventured into rural areas as well. Anybody can go to
these stores and buy products that they need, but they are not
entirely convenient, especially when a customer has to wait for
hours in queues on busy days.
EXISTING METHOD
At present, we are using the process in malls with help of
barcode scanner. Vendor scan the product through the
barcode scanner. This is to be a slow process and
Customer has to wait for long queues. So, this is a one of
the reason for most of the people want to leave the mall
for waiting a long queue to buy a few products.
To avoid that, we want to buy more products recent years
have been introduced new type of technologies. customer
has to put a product into smart shopping trolley. Each and
every product has product id. The RFID reader can read
the product id. Which can have been useful for
customers. All such solutions can be useful for customer.
Such solutions save the customer time and money etc….
Proposed Method:
The proposed method is to have the customer directly
process products and bill them in the trolley instead of
waiting in a queue for long periods of time. The customers
have to add the products after a short scan in the trolley
and when they’re done, the amount will be displayed in
the trolley. The customer can also log in to the app which
will display the list of all the products added and their
amount. Once done, the customer can pay digitally
through the app; thus, cutting down on the time that
would be otherwise spent in long queues and relieve them
from the tediousness of scanning barcodes.
Block diagram
Working
The proposed system illustrates to reduce the waiting time of customer in
shopping mall. This system consists of PIC microcontroller, RFID reader, RFID tag,
LCD display, wifi, and IR sensor. RFID is interfaced with the Arduino uno. Each and
every product will contain the RFID tag, it have unique ID number so that it is used
to identify the product. The RFID reader gets information about the product from
RFID tag, and when the customer put the product in to the trolley, the details of
the product programmed in the microcontroller compares the product details with
its database to give the details to LCD. At that time, the customer can able to see
the details such as name, price of the product and total bill in the LCD. If the
customer wants to remove the product from the trolley, simply he/she can take off
the product; so that the total cost of product will be reduce from the total amount.
Also final billing details from the microcontroller can be transmitted to the user
mobile through IoT cloud through Wi-Fi. In the proposed system we also included
the exit gate module to identify and alert if any person trying to exit with out
paying the bill. And thereby using this proposed system, shopping becomes easier.

CONCLUTION:
The desired objectives were successfully achieved in the
prototype model developed. The developed product is
easy to use and economical. Though the project
showcases the proof of concept, there are a few aspects
that can be included to make the smart shopping cart
more robust. To begin with, in this project the latency time
of the wireless communication with the server may need
to be considered. Secondly, the communication is not very
secure. It is impossible to stick RFID tag to some products.
In such cases, conventional scanning of barcode is more
sophisticated. Further, a more sophisticated micro-
controller and larger display system can be used to provide
better consumer experience.
