REGION XIII
CARAGA is an administrative region of the
Philippines, designated as Region XIII,
Butuan City, located in Agusan Del Norte
considered as a highly urbanized city.
CARAGA boasts of its rich cultural heritage
and numerous natural attractions offering
unlimited adventure to tourists. It is a
destination for all nature and adventure
seekers. The five provinces of the region
are: Agusan del Norte; Agusan del Sur;
Dinagat Islands; Surigao del Norte; and
Surigao del Sur

AIRPORT
Siargao is fast becoming a destination of choice among foreign and local tourists. As such, airport
expansion needs to be prioritized. Nevertheless, there are numerous access points into the provinces
of CARAGA Region as there are numerous airports and ports with RORO as well as an extensive road
network.
By Air: Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific fly daily to the CARAGA Region vie Butuan and Surigao
City. There are direct flights from Manila to Surigao as well as Cebu to Surigao. There are also direct
flights from Manila and Cebu to Sayak Airport in Del Carmen, Siargao Island.
By Sea: WG&A and Sulpicio Lines offer direct voyage from Manila to Surigao. Visitors can also start
from Cebu: Cokaliong Shipping Lines and Cebu Ferriss offer direct trips as well.
By Land: There are bus trips through RORO Manila to Mindanao with Surigao City being the gateway.
Getting Around: There are several buses, jeepneys, and air-conditioned shuttle vans used for
transportation to pass the different provinces and its municipalities. Vans and buses are also
available daily for trips to and from Butuan and Surigao City to the different tourist spots. Habal-babal
rides are also available in some of the municipalities or barangays in the region.

Administrative Region Most of the inhabitants of the CARAGA Region are migrants from
Luzon and Visayas. Ethnic residents include the Manobo, Mamanwa,
and other tribes.

Major Industries
Major agricultural products of the region include palay, corn, coconut,
gold,banana, rubber, oil palm, calamansi, prawns, milkfish, crabs, seaweeds and
mango,seafoods, abaca, coffee, livestock and poultry, plantation-species lumner,
arts and crafts, fashion accessories, housewares, and high-value crops. On mining,
the region has 2.5. B metric tons of mineral deposits of iron, gold, silver, nickel,
chromite, manganese, and copper (DTI n.d.).
Travel Trivia
The tallest tree can be found along the Butuan-Barobo Highway in
Agusan del Sur. The tree measures 65 meters with a diameter of 360
centimeters and is over 200 years old
