ABSTRACT
The ‘Food Ordering System’ is an Online Food Delivery Web Application for College
Canteen which is a dedicated platform designed to enhance the dining experience for
students and staff by providing a streamlined solution for ordering food from the
campus canteen.
The web app offers a user-friendly interface where users can easily browse the
canteen’s menu, view detailed descriptions and prices of available items, and place
orders directly from their computers or mobile devices.
The app also includes real-time order tracking and timely updates, making it easier
for users to manage their meals and for the canteen to handle orders efficiently.
Ultimately, it seeks to provide a more enjoyable and organized dining experience for
everyone on campus.

EXISTING SYSTEM
The existing system in many college canteens often
involves a series of outdated and inefficient practices.
Students typically navigate long queues to place their
orders, leading to considerable wait times, especially
during peak hours. Orders are taken manually by
canteen staff, which increases the likelihood of errors
and miscommunications.
This traditional approach not only contributes to delays
and customer frustration but also places an
unnecessary burden on staff, who must manage both
the order-taking process . Consequently, the overall
service experience can suffer, impacting both efficiency
and student satisfaction.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The college canteen is experiencing delays and inefficiencies due to manual order
processing and frequent errors. Students face long wait times, especially during
peak hours, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction. To resolve these issues, a
solution is needed to streamline order management and enhance the overall dining
experience for students.
OBJECTIVES
Streamline Order Processing: Implement a digital ordering system that allows
01 students to place their orders through the app, reducing wait times and minimizing
manual errors.
Improve Customer Experience: Offers a user-friendly interface to provide a
02 smoother and more satisfying experience for students.
Sustainability and Waste Reduction: Implement features such as order
03 scheduling and food inventory management to help the canteen plan meals in
advance, reduce food wastage, and promote sustainability in food
consumption.

METHODOLOGY
Frontend Development:
• HTML & CSS: Build the user interface with static content and styling
using HTML and CSS. Ensure the design is responsive for different
devices.
• JavaScript: Implement client-side functionality such as order
placement, form validation, and dynamic updates.
Backend Development (PHP & MySQL):
• Database Setup: Set up MySQL database with XAMPP and create tables
based on the design (users, orders, menu).
• PHP Logic: Write PHP scripts to handle server-side operations such as:
Processing user login and Handling order submission and updating
order
status.
• CRUD Operations: Implement Create, Read, Update, and Delete
functionality for managing orders, and menu items.
