THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN
LIMITATION AND DELIMITATION
• The differences between limitation
and delimitation is that limitations
reflect the shortcomings of our
study, based on practical
constraints that we faced.
Contrasted to that, delimitation
reflect the choices that we made in
terms of the focus and scope of our
research aims and research
SCOPE AND LIMITATION
• Scope, refers to how far the research area has explored and
parameters in with the study will be operating in. the type of
information to be included in the scope of a research project would
include facts and theories about the subject of the project.
• Limitations, also known as the bounds, are influences that the
researcher cannot control. They are the shortcomings,
conditions or influences that cannot be controlled by the
researcher that place restrictions on your methodology and
conclusions. Any limitations that might influence the results
should be mentioned.
IMPORTANCE OF LIMITATIONS
• Always acknowledge a study’s limitations.
• Keep in mind that acknowledgement to
the study’s limitations is an opportunity to
make suggestions for further research.
• Claiming limitations is a sucjective process
because you must evaluate the impact of
those limitations.
REMEMBER…
• Stating the study limitations not only
provides extra credence to the study but
provide the reader caution not to expect
beyond what the study can and promises
to deliver, not with standing certain
constraints.
HOW TO WRITE THE SCOPE AND
LIMITATION?
• Scope- pertains to the coverage of the study
• Limitations- tells the aspects of the study which will not be
covered
1. The scope and limitation may each be presented in one
paragraph.
2.The scope discusses the inclusions and coverage of your study
including locale and respondents.
3. The limitation are in exclusions from the study that were
beyond the control of the researcher.
The research methods and the instrument to be used
List of aspects in the study which are not covered
Primary objective of study
The variables of the study
The period when to conduct the study
The participants of the study
The locale of the study
Example:
Scope of the study
This study is focusing on hoe nursing students maintain their perspective in dignity in care in our Lady Of Fatima
University-Antipolo campus. This study will be done with soft copy questionnaire as a survey and reference. The
study shall have male and female of a nursing student of our Lady Fatima University students with the age of 18
and above.
Limitations of the study
This study will not cover the other problems that are not necessarily connected on nursing students’ perspective
and not having any connections about dignity in care between nurses and patients such as factor that outside of
the scope of the study. The respondents should be enrolled this school year 2020-2021 of college of nursing in our
Lady of Fatima University-Antipolo campus.
